XP: Starting food tomorrow...

...and I'm really nervous and feel totally clueless.

DS is MSPI and I am so scared he'll have a reaction.  He's been through enough the past several weeks, a reaction to food is the last thing we need.  He's started arching again really badly and he's already at the max dose for reflux so I'm hoping that starting food will help that issue too.

We decided to skip rice cereal since his GI nurse told us it can be constipating and we are going to use Beechnut's Oatmeal.  We are going to give it to him in the morning...but do we give it after his bottle?  Right after, or like a half hour later, or an hour later??  I know we're only supposed to start with like a tablespoon of oatmeal...I have no idea how much formula I should make to mix in (what is "desired consistency"...almost as thin as water?)  Let's say I mix in an ounce of formula...should I decrease his bottle by that much?

I'm hoping things go off without a hitch and I just figure it out (or get great advice from you lades that I can use)! Big Smile

TIA

Way to early to even think about decreasing bottles.  Formula is still his primary source of nutrition.  Solids should always be fed after the bottle (maybe an hour later if you prefer).  I skipped cereal altogether and went straight for fruit/ veggies.  Started with carrots, squash, pears, apples and just kept going one at a time.  Don't let his allergies discourage you.  The MSPI may just be a one off.

Good luck, mama!
