Abbey/Abigail?

I really like Abbey. It has a special connection to me, but I don't know if it would work as a stand alone...

Should I just use Abigail and use the NN Abbey?

I would definitely use Abigail over just Abbey. Give her some options so she's not stuck with a nn if she doesn't want one as she ages.

I love Abigail, because Abbey is a cute name, but Abigail is beautiful for a little girl or professional woman. My little sister is Abbie, she wishes she had a full name.

LOVE the name Abigail with Abby as a NN! It's in my top three.

There is something about these names that I've never liked. But if you're going to do it, please use the full name.

I would use Abigail as the full name, and Abby as the nickname. I don't like the way you spelled it as Abbey, though. That spelling reminds me of another word for a convent. I like it much better without the E, and that's the way I have always seen it spelled by people with that name.

I would use Abigail...I love that name.  For a nickname, I like the spelling Abby much better than Abbey.

This.  The Abbey spelling is weird to me.  It sounds like a monastery, not a person, and since there's no E in the original name I don't know what it's doing in the nickname.  Abigail is a great name, though.

I would use a full name either Abigail or Abilene and Abby as the nickname.

This is our favorite girl name and I had this same talk with a friend. I agree that Abigail should be used so that she has options when she gets older. Do you have a middle name?

I would go with Abigail. I have seen NNs spelled Abby or Abbie but not Abbey. FWIW I have a dear friend named Abigail and her NN is Gail.

Yes, I agree with all the PPs. There are plenty of ways to spell the nn- Abby, Abbie, Abbey, so whatever works for you is fine, but I'd say definitely give her the full name and not just the nn.

This. And I like the spelling - I have a cousin with that NN, spelled that way.

Just throwing in that I know a Katie, Jenny, and Bobby and those are the names on their birth certificates, so I guess in the end you can just do whatever you want to do.
