almond milk calories

my DD just turned one and has not outgrown her mspi yet. i started her on rice milk but would rather her be on almond milk or possibly coconut. the reason i'd rather almond is that is more accessible and even has the little juice box type cartons that i can leave at my in-laws in case she ever needs milk there. the unsweetened almond milk only has 35 calories. is this enough for a one year old? she is a big baby- in 95% for height & weight but just didn't know if that is ok

Almond milk is very low in fat and calories.  It also has virtually no protein.  It really just isn't a good substitute for WCM.  Coconut milk is a MUCH better alternative--especially when your LO is so little and still needs lots of good fat to help brain development and protein to keep up with her rapidly-growing body.

Almond milk isn't an adequate replacement for WCM at age one. It's recommended that you do WCM, breastmilk, or formula until age 2 now. Talk to your pedi about it.

i just started my son (1 y/o) on almond milk b/c i can't find a coconut milk that is fortified.  (i found one with the help of this board from TJ, but it's vanilla and he hates it).  SO i'm continuing to pump once a day this way he gets one bottle of breast milk and the rest almond milk.. and i also nurse at night so he gets half almond milk and half breast milk.  We hope this will give him the fat he needs.

My DS1 was on rice milk for the first year and since he's been 2 hasn't had ANY milk what so ever.  He drinks fortified OJ.

We use vanilla at home and it has 90 calories.. not that it's enough anyway.  I need to find a fortified almond milk -- pedi does not reccomend rice milk and the coconut milk i saw from TJ does not have enough calories/ fat either.

Pedi never suggested to us to keep her on formula until 2 yrs old.

My twins drink enriched almond milk (21 months)...had been on rice milk before that. Pedi and pedi allergist both suggested rice or almond milk.

How many calories (and fat) is the enriched almond milk?

It's only 60 calories...I think 2.5 g fat.  It's low, but both are growing well and at top of percentiles....I make sure that they eat a decent and varied (as much as possible with allergies!) diet.

Okay.. this is good to know.  I keep hearing people talk about fortified and enriched almond or coconut milk.. but i can't find anything higher than 90cal (sweetened) and about the same fat content you mentioned above.  thanks.
