I've been drinking gatorade that I make up from the powder they sell (much cheaper!) - and there is no brominated vegetable oil in the powdered stuff I've been using.  Read the ingredients on things before you panic.

So if you decide to get all concerned about this - you can still drink some gatorade!

The link doesn't work at all for me either. Regardless, not sure when yahoo earned it's MD.  I have to drink sports drinks because I have OHSS, so I'm really not to concerned.  Not to mention, BVO has been found safe by the FDA and really, how MUCH BVO is in gatorade anyway?  You'd probably have to drink cases of it before there was a problem.  At least I'll be flame retardant.

Also, you included Dr. Pepper....if we aren't worried about the CAFFEINE in Dr. Pepper which is KNOWN to be dangerous to embryos/fetuses why in the heck would we be worried about BVO????

I think the 1st tri bored, where there is already a lot of fear, probably isn't the place to bring your fear mongering media.

Is it safe to drink Gatorade when pregnant?

It is safe to drink Gatorade during pregnancy.

In fact, many doctors specifically recommend Gatorade during the later stages of the pregnancy as they replace electrolytes losses cause by sweating (contractions) and the six per cent carbohydrate solution gives a reasonable amount of carbohydrate for energy.

Another benefit is Gatorade has less salt than milk and less carbohydrate than fruit juices.

I hope you are kidding me? Caffeine is like alcohol - they really aren't sure EXACTLY how much is dangerous but they are absolutely 100% without a doubt know it is.   That's why your not supposed to drink coffee!!!!  They have a recommended upper limit on caffeine intake per and seeing as caffeine is also in EVERYTHING chocolate (including chocolate milk!), teas, etc. it's generally recommended that you avoid coffee and sodas as much as possible.

My RE recommends no more then 100mg.  Have a Dr. Pepper, a liptons tea, and a few chocolate chip cookies and you're over the 100mg limit.  Bottom line - caffeine is a KNOWN danger - wouldn't you be a little more worried about that then something the FDA has approved to be safe?

Wow. Caffeine is perfectly fine in moderation. Having a coke a day is in no way similar to having a beer or drinking on the regular. I had one cup of regular coffee a day with DD and my OB (who oversees my entire reproductive care) is fine with it. I think you are getting your panties in a twist over caffeine when you really don't need to.

You follow your doctors instructions and we will follow our doctors' instructions. However, running around like a chicken with its head cut off is not at all attractive. Calm down.

Ummm, I dont think I seem insane or not calm in my original post.

If you read it that way thats not my problem.

I dont even drink sports drinks and I barely drink soda so this story has no effect on my life. I was just passing on the info so that the women on here can make an informed decision before they open up one of the beverages containing that ingredient.

The same way they have info about other products out there. Its up to them to decide if they still want to drink them or eat them.

I didnt think I was posting something bad. I just wanted to pass the info along.

Next time I hear something may be bad for you I will keep it to myself.
