Morning Sickness getting worse!

Is anyone else having trouble with morning sickness getting worse and your pregnancy progresses?  Mine is to the point that I am losing weight, so weak that walking across a room - even with help - is enough to make me want to take a nap.  I just can't seem to eat much of anything and GOD forbid I should try drinking water.  I know that I brought this up about a month ago asking about dehydration worries.  It is so bad that riding in the car makes me violently ill, I have no energy and cannot keep anything down.  Crackers, ginger ale, Zofran, nothing is working.  Even the Mylanta isn't touching the heartburn that goes with the m/s.  I thought 2nd tri was generally supposed to be easier than the first - guess noone told LO!   :)

OB's response was that every pregnancy is different and as long as my blood sugar levels are not too high, he is not worried. Said he would be a 'Jewish mother' - and tell me when it was time to be concerned. Until then I am to drink as much plain water as possible and eat whatever appeals. Small problem is that water comes right back up and nothing appeals to me. Can't stand the smell of food at all.

This doesn't sit well with me.  My first pregnancy was just as you are explaining yours is now and I was told to go to the ER for IV fluids because I couldn't keep water down.  For goodness sake, honey, you can't walk without assistance!  Up to you but I would go for a second opinion. Also, ask for a different medication!

Best of luck to you hon!!

I would be worried, I mean I still feel super nasty sometimes, and even if I cough to hard it can make me get sick, but I am still able to keep food down. I would worry a little cause your baby needs the groceries more now than ever. Try taking gravel to settle your tummy and eat a good nutritous meal (yes it is safe). I also suck on ginger candies cause they are great for settle upset stomaches and it could just absord through your mouth and not really go much into your stomache, (the health food store should have them). Other than that just try to eat what you can and see if your OB would perscribe you some stuff for MS, cause you don't want to dehydrate yourself or baby.

I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy! I get Hyperemesis with my pregnancies so I get really, really sick, but luckily it doesn't last the entire time. With my last one I was sick until 27 weeks and with this one I was way more sick (lost 20 lbs in the first couple weeks) but it only lasted until about 18 weeks. Now I just throw up once every few days which isn't a big deal at all to me anymore. Unfortunately some people are sick the whole time but the good news is that it will stop when you push the baby out! I know that's probably not much consolation but it always made me feel better remembering that there was a time limit to my sickness. If you stop being sick it also makes the uncomfortable third tri a lot better because you are just appreciative that you're not sick anymore! I would also check into switching meds and trying something else, at the beginning of my pregnancy they tried about 5 different meds before settling with Zofran.

Like I've said before, that's what the placenta is for. It will supply the baby with the nutrients it needs. We as a human race are not that fragile.

But OP, there are lots of meds and remedies for stuff like this. Have u looked into it??

There are also women who go through their entire pregnancies throwing up every single day. It does happen. You just need to find a way or something to help you through it

I agree with this. It's one thing to not be able to eat, but if you can't keep any fluids down it is a serious problem. If your doctor isn't helping, I would consider trying out someone different.

I just want to throw it in there that home health care is probably an option too if you are that sick. I was very dehydrated at the beginning and after a week of in and out ER visits was put on home health care where I received IV fluids every day. They usually check your keytone levels (in your urine) to see if you are as dehydrated as you feel. I had to set a timer for every 1-2 hours and when the timer went off I forced myself to eat 1-2 crackers and take a sip of water. That was after not being able to eat or drink anything for 2 weeks which was terrible on every part of my body.

Thanks ladies for all your input and support.  I have another call into the Ob nurse at the hospital and am waiting for a call back - trying to get a 2nd opinion.  I will ask about the fluids when i get the call back from the nurse.  The thing with my OB is that he is the best in the area for handling diabetic pregnancies.   After seeing a different dr at every single appt during my first pregnancy (and another 4 dr's during l & d), I am reluctant to leave this one even though his bedside manner is less than ideal.  My next appointment is next Thursday after Christmas.    Please pray that either the dr or the nurse are able to find a way to ease this up. I still need to be able to function at work and at home.  DH is helping immensely at home but he can't help while I am at work.

I have the exact same thing entering into 14 week.  I started using Ginger candy called Gin Gins...they totally settle the stomach. Purchased at whole foods so you may want to try online if not near an organic type store.  I also added B6pills and iron by eating raisens. Im not perfect everyday but as long as I stick to eating every 1.5 hours and I mean on the dot and do the things I mentioned above I am way better with energy and feel like a human again.  You have to eat....it will help!!! I don't have a bit of hunger I just eat to make sure i don't get sick.  Good luck!
