Protein in urine?

At my appointment this morning 29 weeks the nurse said I had a little protein in my urine, so I asked my OB about it and she said that I'm still early for pree, and my blood pressure is fine 100/60 so she's not concerned. Anyone have this happen as a one time thing?

Yes at my 25 week appt I had a trace of protein and I am High risk with high bp so I was freaked out. My 27 wk appt I had nothing. The nurse said I could have been dehydrated before. She also said there needs to be a much higher rate of protein for more than one period of time before they are concearned.

I've had trace protein at almost every apt. My MW blames it on the fact that I usually come in first thing and I usually don't drink a lot of water when I first wake up. My BP has been perfect, so there's no cause for concern for me!

As others have said, trace is probably no cause for concern, especially if BP is ok. My doctors were more concerned about the trend upward...I was neg, then trace, then +1, etc.

I've had trace pop up at 1 appointment and then not for another and then  again for the last 5 appointments, and my doctor says a trace is normal. Dh who's a lab tech says the same thing, when they do testings if its a trace they just put T down for the doctor to know, but generally doctors just shrug it off and tell you to drink more.  As long as it doesn't climb out of trace, and your blood pressure is within normal not to freak even if it persists as trace for months.

Since your BP is so awesome, I'm sure there isn't any reason for concern. People have trace amounts sometime. Although I'd side-eye your doctor for saying it's too early for pre-e. I was diagnosed at 28w.

Also, those dip stick tests aren't as accurate as a full 24hr collection. If your BP goes up they'll have you do one of those, but it sounds like you are fine! GL!

I had this happen to me in my 2nd trimester. I had a bit higher protein level in my urine and it freaked me out. My doctor didnt think it was to be concerned with, and ever since then, all my urine samples came back totaly normal and healthy.

Just a one time freat out!

I haven't had it happen.  But my office actually stopped doing routine urine tests because they were getting so many false positives.  They said there are other signs of problems other than what's in your urine, so they find them unnecessary.  Since it sounds like your blood pressure is nice and low and you don't have any other symptoms, I would try not to worry.

My BP has been borderline due to my "white coat syndrome". But since the beginning I've had off and on "trace" protein. No one even has mentioned it, I just see it on my checkout forms.

I had protein in my urine at my 37 week appointment, my BP was normal so my doc wasn't too concerned but had me go for a full urinalysis because it could also be a sign of a UTI. It came back that I was a little dehydrated and I got the "drink TONS of water" lecture.
