Showing already??!!!

This is my 2nd and I am 9 weeks today and cannot zip up my pants. I am thinking that I am showing but did not loose all the baby fat in my stomach area after the last one so I am not sure. I cannot suck it in anymore either.

Anyone else showing this early their 2nd time around. I am not ready to wear maternity pants yet!

I've already bought maternity pants (work pants) and have a beband.  My jeans fit still but work pants def not and shirts are getting way too tight- esp since we aren't sharing the news for 3 more weeks (besides fam)!  I've gained prob 4lbs and they say you don't show baby until in the second trimester- but I'm def showing something.  lol  ps...ive found that my maternity pants are so comfty and I found a cute pair- so I'm all about it!

Depends on your definition of "showing". You're probably bloated. Are you looking and feeling bigger because you're pregnant? Yes. Is what you're seeing baby? No.

Showing is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure to everyone else they don't even notice. If they are super preceptive it might look like you ate a big meal. Of course showing at your stage is more streched out muscels from previous pregnancy topped with a bit of bloat. I think there is nothing wrong with maternity pants if you want to feel comfortable. I have this strange hang up where I refuse to wear maternity befor 16 weeks, but plenty of people do, and I am sure they feel a lot better for it. If you keep up with your refusal like me, you can always buy bigger pants which comes in handy after the baby, also rubber bands, and bella bands are a good option.

At 9 weeks you are 'sorta' showing.  It's not actually baby yet as the baby is still so small that it, and your uterus, are still behind the pubic bone.  Your muscles are stretched out from your first pregnancy though, so it's easy to have your tummy pooch out from bloat and stuff.  It certainly looks like baby, it's just not yet.  I am also already into maternity.  With #2 I was in maternity by about 9 weeks also.

It's not just bloat:

"Like a balloon that’s easier to inflate the second or third time, so too is the uterus. The Mayo Clinic refers to this as the “warmed up” effect. Abdominal muscles and ligaments have already been stretched once making it oh so easy to stretch again."

This is the case with most friends i've seen with their second.  No biggie, I say.  I just get annoyed with comments it's just bloat.  The weekly updates you get from the bump are tailored for first time mom's and don't address mom's who've already gone through a pregnancy.

I'm 12 weeks and my pants have not been fitting well for a few weeks. I have even lost 10 pounds because of nausea, and my pants are tighter than before I lost weight. This is my first pregnancy. Some of it is bloat but I find it hard to believe all of it is bloat. Luckily, I now have maternity pants that I hope to be able to wear throughout my pregnancy. More comfortable than pajama pants.

This is my 4th (in 4 years) I'm not showing quite yet, but definitely bloated and retaining water. I think I started actually showing a little bit around 14 weeks or so with my second & third. But sometimes the bloat itself is enough to make me feel like I look a little pregnant, but I'm sure I just look like I've been eating too much to everyone else, lol.

This is true, however, at 9 weeks the baby isn't even an inch big.  The uterus and the baby and still behind the pubic bone.  It's not baby yet.

It's not baby yet so to me it's not showing yet. Traditionally, I think of showing as baby above the pelvic bone. It would be bloat, but people want to show and insist they are. So arguing about it usually is pointless. People are going to believe whatever they want.

Really just depends on what you consider 'showing'. While it's technically not baby yet, your uterus IS stretching and growing and pushing your other organs up and out, so the need for maternity clothes is quite real.

If you lie on your belly you will feel a lump - feels like you're lying on a softball.  If that's the case then yes, it is baby (well uterus).  If it squishes and feels normal ish then it is your organs moving up and bloat.

Yea, I'm majorly bloated this time around & my extra belly pouch leftover from DD doesn't help.

I was just super bloated at 9 weeks (wasn't at all bloated with #1). I can't say that I even feel like I'm showing now at 13 weeks.
