I personally don't like any medicated creams OTC or prescribed. Baking soda baths can help. I would stop Aveeno products if I was you, even the "mild" or "eczema" line has lots of chemicals that in the end only irritate the same problem you are trying to control.
What helps DS: I bathe every other day, we only use Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild--bar, liquid dries his skin a little--and I keep the soap to a minimum too. I grind organic rolled oats to a fine powder and add about half a cup to the bath water, it leaves his skin soft. I lather him up with CJ's BUTTer Unscented after the bath. CJ's will clear up any flare ups overnight! Coconut oil did not helped in fact it aggravates his eczema.
The soap you can find it at any grocery store that has a "natural/organic" section. I buy mine at Kroger. CJ's I get at my local CD store but you can always order online. jackbenatural.com has free shipping and you can order a sample size to try it out first for about $1.50.
I would look at what other products around the house you use too, like detergents, fabric softener, even air freshners or people around him that use perfumes. Diet sometimes is a culprit for a trigger. If you have nothing around to use, plain olive oil would do the trick! HTH!
ETA: Keep the house at 50% humidity, particularly with winter the air in the house gets too dry. Sorry this got long :)
