PUPPP

I wanted to know if anyone has had or is educated on Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. I went to my doctors apptoinment yesterday and told her about this rash i have that it really itchy on my stomach and on my arms and she said that i might have PUPPP. I took a blood test and have not received the results back yet, but said that if i did have it, i will have to be induced in 4 weeks ( week 38)...

Has anyone gone through this?

I had PUPPs with my first pregnancy. It was miserable. I had it for the last 6 weeks, stomach, arms and strangely my eyelids. Nothing helped the itchiness, taking a hot shower seemed to help a little. I was not induced early because of it though. In fact, I didn't deliver until 41 weeks 5 days. I honestly wouldn't wish it on someone I hate. Good luck, just breathe and know that it will go away after the baby is born.

I had PUPPs with my first and it was freaking awful. I used Grandpa's Pine Tar soap and cold clothes and it helped. It really is miserable though. I was induced but it was not because of PUPP. I hope the next four weeks flys by for you.

I have had it since week 29. Indifferent It started on my belly and has since spread all over my body. It is the absolute WORST!!!!! Especially when you have a boring desk job and can do nothing but sit around and feel itchy all day. I am using Gold Bond anti itch lotion, which helped a lot at first but has slowly become less and less effective. My doctor recommended steriod cream or benadryl lotion along with benadryl at night... I am not so sure about taking a Class B medication, but I will likely at least try the lotion. She didn't mention anything about possible induction, if she did, I would decline. I don't want to be induced if I can help it.

Good luck, I feel for you. I am so miserably itchy.

Oh also, oatmeal baths have done nothing for me.

I had it with DD starting at 30 weeks. It was complete misery, itching 24/7 and scratching my skin raw. I tried every "remedy" I could find on the internet, plus a steroid cream and a round of oral steroids and ended up with very little relief. I was induced at 37.5 weeks after having an amnio to make sure DD's lungs were mature.

I don't think you would *have* to be induced. PUPPP doesn't cause any harm to the baby, just discomfort to you. The only cure is to deliver, so if you're miserable, that might be an option. Luckily, I haven't gotten it this time around. My OB said that's good, b/c they wouldn't induce before 39 wks due to new ACOG recommendations.

I had PUPPS during my last pg and it was no fun but in no way do you need to be induced for PUPPS. There's no threat to the baby. I had my baby when I was 10 days past due.
