Is your LP always the same?

Coming from someone who has never temped...

 

Just curious if those of you that do, is your luteal phase always the same length?  I know they don't vary a lot (typically 12-16 days) so this is how I guestimate when I ovulate each cycle but just curious about it from those of you who know your exact O date.

It is normal for them to vary by a a couple of days. So far, I've only got 3 complete charts to go by. The first two cycles that I charted had 12 day LPs. The last one was 13 days.

A) My LP varies every month from 12-15/16 days.

B) I would not guess your O date based on LP. Use OPKs and/or temp to get a better idea (temp is best, obviously, but some people don't want to do it)

The last four cycles I have fully charted it was 12, 12, 13, 14 days. It varies, but it seems to be getting consistently longer rather than jumping around.

I never figured mine out, I always missed it somehow. My advice, have sex 3-4 days a week so you always have sperm there when you do ovulate.

This is only my third cycle charting but my last two cycles my luteal phase has been 14 days , and my coverline was 97.4 both times as well..

Mine has been pretty consistent since I started charting, 13 days. I think maybe once it was a day longer.
TTC since March of 2012
Testing Begins 3/5/13
SA #1 3/15/13=super low count, low motility and low morphology
7dpo & cd3 bloodwork= Normal
Dh dx'd with diabetes
Waiting to repeat SA

I don't have FF VIP anymore, which would sum up all my stats, but I charted 30 cycles. I think I remember that say 80-90% were 12 days with a couple outliers that were 11 or 13 days.  So, yes, I would say my LP is generally the same length.

The 4 cycles I've had off of bc have been 11,14,13 & 14 days. The last cycle I used progesterone. 

R&K married 4.15.11. TTC #1 since 7.11.12

As a previous poster mentioned, I wouldn't recommend doing that. My LP is usually 10 days (give or take a day), so I wouldn't be giving myself the best chance if I stopped having sex 12 days before my period.

Mine have varied from 12-18 days.  Normally they are 13-15, though.

You never know and I don't think you can go by anyone else. Just chart. I've ovulated on CD11, 12, 13 and crazily 18 this cycle and my LP has also varied 13, 10 and 14. Who knows what will happen with this months wonky cycle.

 

Without temping I never would have caught that I ovulated 5 to 7 days later than normal.

TTC since July 2012 Me(42): normal HSG low progesterone 2.5 and TSH 13.9 DH(41): normal SA *10 cycles no meds, July-March. 2013: BFN - Cycle 11 - Chlomid and IUI April 6, 2013 FX

It ranges from 12-15, but there was one 11 day in the past 11 cycles.

TTC since 10/11 Started testing 1/13 HSG, Saline Sono, BW, MRI for slightly high Prolactin All tests came back normal DH- SA normal Diagnosis: Unexplained 3/13 Clomid 50mg/trigger/IUI #1/Endometrin BFN 4/13 Clomid 100mg/trigger/IUI #2/ Endometrin BFN 5/13 Clomid 100mg/trigger/IUI #3/ Endometrin ???

Mine doesn't really vary. My LP is always between 13 and 14 days
Me: 30, DH: 34. TTC since 2/2012 DH's SA 12/17/12 - Normal FSH, Estrogen, Progestrone,Prolactin, TSH,glucose, lipids Normal 1st TTC OBGYN appt 1/4/13 - not helpful 1st RE appt 2/15/13- Antral Follicle count 90th % for age. Ruled out sperm issue and ovulation/egg issue. Investigating anatomical causes of infertility. HSG 2/19/13 = tubes clear possible polyp, Saline sonogram 3/14/13 polyp confirmed. Started birth control to wait for hysteroscopy. Polyp removed 3/29/13. RE thinks polyp was the "culprit." Plan continue trying on our own for 2-3 cycles. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3bf60b

In nearly a year of charting, I had mostly 12 day LPs with 3 11 day ones, a single 13 day LP and one anovulatory cycle (no LP). 

Unfortunately, without charting you'll never know if you're that regular, or if yours vary a lot, if they're long or if they're short, or even IF you're ovulating. I highly recommend temping for this knowledge!
