Meet the baby/housewarming

DH and I recently moved into a new place and I'm a party thrower so I immediately started thinking of having a housewarming party. The problem though is that a lot of friends will be out of town over the holidays (as will we) and in January I have a shower each Saturday and I don't want to out do it with the parties. I'm due towards the end of February and am concerned about being induced early (I have GD and while it's been controlled for the most part, my OB has been bringing it up at my last two visits). Would it be weird if we had it in late March and made it a combined housewarming/meet the baby party? I wouldn't be expecting any gifts, but I figure it would be a neat way to have friends over (our last place was WAY too small to really even have anyone over) plus they could see the baby...

Thoughts?

I would just call it a housewarming party, and since everyone invited should know that you just had a baby, they'd know that they would be meeting the baby too.  That way they wouldn't see it as something for the baby and not know whether or not they were expected to bring a baby gift.

Well, I know you said you really weren't interested in getting gifts but many people usually bring gifts to both events.  I would decide on one and call it that - either a housewarming or a meet the baby.  If I were invited to a house warming/meet the baby party I would definitely bring a gift for baby and then bring something for your home as well.

Since you are having mutilple showers already, call it housewarming party.
