TTC and being sick

DH and I are TTC this month and I was wondering if a sinus infection/early cold will interfere with conceiving or getting pregnant? AF is due in a week to the day so I'm not sure what to take, just in case I possibly conceived? Surely it's not a possible symptom of pregnancy? I have had on and off dull sharp cramping on the right lower part of my abdomen since O. Don't know if that is my body behaving normally or what. I have been extremely tired the past couple weeks, so not sure if that's cold too or what?

I appreciate honest feedback, as I do not want to get my hopes up that these could be possible signs of being pregnant. Should I test yet? A little nervous to...

A cold shouldn't affect anything.

My OB posts the following list of medications that are okay during pregnancy; feel free to reference it, but also know that not all doctors have the same recommendations. Some people avoid medicine completely, "just in case.". I do not.

Crap I can't quite get to it on my iPhone. Her website is www.nswobgyn.com, and I know the medication list is under the "obstetrics" portion of her site, but I guess you have to look on a computer.

My OB's rule of thumb is anything Tylenol brand is fine, anything Advil brand is not.

I was a teacher while pregnant with DS and had so many colds! Don't worry. Colds usually won't affect a pregnancy.

If you're worried about what to take to feel better, just ask your pharmacist. Say you're TTC and want to be careful in case you are pregnant, tell her your symptoms, and she'll tell you what you can and can't take.

As for when to test, I have no idea since you didn't say how many DPO you are. Good luck!

ETA: If AF is "due" in a week, I'd test in a couple days with a FRER.

So glad you posted this...was wondering the same thing.  It's our first month TTC and I'm being overly critical about any medications just out of lack of knowledge at the moment.  I had a chest cold coming on for about two days and was afraid to take muscinex only to find out some consider it to be beneficial when TTC.  Now I've been sneezing my head off all day and drinking my weight in OJ because we only have Advil in the house!  :)  Best of luck!

That medication list is wonderful.  Thanks for posting.  I've been wondering too because I've been fighting off a sore throat and worrying about what to take.

Sounds like we're in the same boat! I have been feeling congested and sneezing all day, too. I stopped to get OJ on the way home from work so cheers to us! Good luck to you too!!

I'm so glad you posted this....i am in the exact situation as you. This is our first month TTC and i too am having a cold and feeling slight cramps in my lower abdomin. My AF is in a week so i am not sure if these cramps are due from that. I normally don't get cramps until the day my AF arrives. I do not want to give myself hope since it is our first month TTC.

Thanks for posting this!  I love the list. I'm glad to know that the meds I took while I had the flu were on the list. Of course I O'd while I was sick, so I'm probably out this month.
