meaningful middle for Lena...

Saw Eliza pop up on a hot names of 2013 list - can't have that...need back up! Have always liked the name "Lena" but didn't think it could stand alone until recently. Since DD1 shares her mn with my MIL, I would like DD2 mn to connect to my mother, whose name is Jacki Lee (not Jacqueline) which do you like best or can you suggest something else? can't do a clicky for some reason.

Lena Lee

Lena June (mom's birthday in June, also a "J" name)

Lena Rose (such a popular mn! but June's flower)

Lena Pearl (June's gemstone...im reaching here!) 

Lena -Let her pick the mn- (control freak within is dying!)

I think Lena June and Lena Pearl are both nice, but I wouldn't be so quick to give up on Eliza. Those "hot names" pieces are usually full of crap and based on a particular website's traffic, not on actual SSA data.

Eliza has been increasing in popularity, but it's a long, slow increase. Here are the actual SSA rankings:

2011: #255

2010: #240

2009: #278

2005: #305

2000: #379

1995: #488

1990: #557

So Eliza won't be top 10 any time soon and it is unlikely to be a breakout name of 2012.

I like both June and Pearl as MN options.  Rose is pretty as well, but I am sort of sick of it in the MN spot.

I also want to say that I do really like Eliza, and I don't think you should completely rule it out.

My great grandmother was named Lena Pearl so I'm kind of partial to it. Wink What if your mother gave you several options to choose from?

I have to say that I like Eliza a lot more than Lena, but it's still a nice name. I think that June, Rose, and Pearl all sound great with Lena. I think I'd go with Lena June.

I don't know that picking her birthstone is necessarily "meaningful," ya know?  Pick a name you like.  Lena Lee is the best of what you've listed.  I had an ancestor named Lena Christine.
