How do you pronounce Matthias?

Is it Matthias or Mathias? Is one more correct than the other? And is it Mah-thee-ahss or Mah-thy-ahss? I don't know how it's spelled or pronounced (something to think about, ha), so I can't decide if I really like it or not. Do you like it?

I would pronounce it Mahthyus. It's a tricky one though which would make me think long and hard about before using it. I would hate to constantly be correcting people on pronunciation.

I also pronounce it Me Tee Us.  It's not really my style of name but I do like it.  My cousin named her son this and if I'm not mistaken, it's German origin and her husband is German and the above pronounciation is how they say it.

Both are correct just of different origins. Both are pronounced Mah-tee-ahs but Matthias can also be pronounced Mu-thie-uhs.

The one Matthias I know is a Muh-THY-is, so that would be my first guess.

I think both are acceptable. The one I knew was from Germany I think - maybe somewhere Scandinavian - and he pronounced it MAH-tee-ahss.

I've met one Matthias. He was a german exchange student. He pronounced it "Mat-tee-us"

The only Matthias I know goes by the second pronunciation...

It's my nephew's name and i love it. She spelt it Matthias and we pronouce it  Mu-thie-uhs. She got it from the movie the Scorpian King(If i remember right.)

Matthias or Mathias are both correct spellings...it depends what ethnic backgound you are drawing it from.

I pronounce Matthias = Mat-tee-us as the little german boy I know's parents pronounce it that way.
