Phyllip

Since it's a middle name I give the spelling a pass but doesn't this look rather feminine in spelling?  A friend just named her boy ____ Phyllip and I just can't help reading ______ Phyllis.

Haha, this spelling is even worse than DH's middle name of Filip, also pronounced Philip. I didn't think it was possible! It honors a relative, apparently. DH hates it and never, ever uses it. While my middle name was on our wedding announcements, for instance, he only wanted his first initial. I blame his mom, of course!

I hate random Ys, especially in great classic names like Phillip.

On a more gag worthy note, I was on Babycenter a while back and someone asked about Phyllyp for a girl. Although lots of people told her it was awful, a disturbing number thought it could be cute and told her to go for it.

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw it. Looks just like a misspelled Phyllis.
