~*~DOR/POF Check-in~*~

This group is open to anyone who has Diminished Ovarian Reserve or Premature Ovarian Failure (sometimes also called Primary Ovarian Insufficiency – POI).

This check-in will be posted each Wednesday.  If you’d like to be added to this group, please reply to this message, and I’ll make sure to add you for next week.  Welcome to the lurkers!  We know this can be a difficult journey, but we welcome you with open arms.  Let us know if we can answer any questions.

GRADUATES ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO POST!

Status Update: What is going on in your cycle or where are you in your process?

QOTW (from a member): I've been reading that there might be a link between DOR and Celiacs disease. Has anyone ever heard of this or has celiacs disease and DOR? Just curious what you all know. :)

Hey, I hope everyone is having a good week!

Update: I had my ET on 12/13. We put back one 8 cell grade 2 expanding blast and one 9 cell grade 2 expanded blast. So far I've had a little bit of cramping here and there but that's about it. Yesterday and today I POAS and they were both BFN. They were both expired internet cheapies so I'm hoping that has something to do with it but I am preparing myself for the possibility that this didn't work.

QOTW: I have heard of a connection just between celiac disease and general IF but not necessarily specific to DOR. Hopefully if someone in our group has celiac disease they can chime in and let us know more about it.

ceemonkey - Hugs -  I really hope that the BFN is because of the expired cheapie. FX crossed for you.

Status Update: What is going on in your cycle or where are you in your process?

Our snowflakes were shipped to Texas and arrived yesterday safe and sound. I will start BCP as soon as CD1 rolls around, which I think might be today or tomorrow.  We are planning an FET for end of January.

Thanks for asking the QOTW! :) I did some more reading about it and read that autoimmune issues may be a cause of DOR, and celiacs is classified as an autoimmune disorder. I recently found out I'm very allergic to gluten and have been misdiagnosed for 13 years, and I also have severe DOR. Wondering what other people might know. Apparently 7 out of 8 people go undiagnosed with it, so I wouldn't be surprised if there really is a link.

12/2/11 - IUI #1- BFN
8/1/12 - IVF #1 - Zero response from max stims (600iu intramuscularly)
My ovaries seem to be just for decoration

12/6/12 - Adopted five embryos that had been frozen for over ten years!
2/11/13 - Thawed four, sadly two didn't survive. Transferred two beautiful blasts.

2/16/13 - First BFP of my life!
3/27/13 - No heartbeat at 9w0d. D&C the following day.

4/23/13 - Matched to adopt five new embryos!

Loveniz – Got testing back and it was normal, HSG showed Left Hydrosalpinx. We met with the RE, he reviewed my HSG report / films and stated NO surgery at this time. All of our genetic testing was normal. He is giving us until Feb to try and get pregnant on our own, but if not pregnant by Feb we will move on to IUI or IVF.  I am still taking the COQ 10 and acupuncture weekly. I have been charting and temping. I am hoping for a New Yeats miracle BFP, but I'm also realistic and very cautious at this point. My husband is a very postiive person, he told me not worry...his famous last words.

********ticker warning*********

Hi ladies!  I haven't checked-in for a while, but I want you all to know that I'm definitely cheering you all on and sending you lots of hugs and positive vibes! Also wanted wish everyone a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!!

Update: So, I can't really believe it, but I've made it to 13 weeks with this pregnancy!  Unfortunately, at my 10 week u/s we found out that Baby B didn't make it, but we're super happy to still have one going strong.  Last u/s was a week ago and baby had a good heartbeat and was wiggling around like crazy!  Next appointment is with the MFM on January 3rd for Amniocentesis.  Looking forward to finding out the sex and hoping and praying for no chromosomal problems.  Also, found out yesterday that I am not a Fragile X carrier, so that is not the cause of my DOR.

QOTW: Don't know anything about Celiac's and DOR, but it seems to me that gluten causes lots of problems for lots of folks (even those that don't specifically have Celiac's), so I can't see how going gluten-free could hurt things.  Especially nowadays when it's so much easier to find gluten-free options even in regular grocery stores.

Hello!

I had my 5th IUI today!  We did Bravelle 2 vials each night!  My last ultrasound I had 3 good size follicles and my E2 level was 1252!  I really hope this is our month : ) I hate how I have my hopes up!  My husband keeps telling me that I should try to not get soo excited because he hates to see me upset when it doesn't work out.  The last cycle in September where we did get pregnant I had 2 follicles and my E2 level was 250ish..  Soo now with the higher E2 and extra follicle I am stupidly getting my hopes up !

Hey ladies!

I am technically in the 2ww, though my hopes are not that high as we just had one follicle this month (womp womp) and so we just did TI instead of IUI. I'm working on trying to be more positive and hopeful though so let me try that again. I'm in the 2ww! I know I ovulated and our timing was good, I only had one follicle but it only takes one egg, so I'm cautiously optimistic. That's better!

When I talked to the nurse about IVF she said 'as soon as you order the meds, that's when you'll get pregnant on your own!' I wanted to throat punch her.

We're trying to get time with our RE to talk about using my OEs vs DEs, hopefully before I have to order meds which will be early january, otherwise I'll lose another month. Isn't this we pay them the big bucks? To be really responsive and be there for us???

QOTW: I haven't heard about that, but I have heard about Vitamin D deficiencies having something to do with it.

Hi ladies!

Ceemonkey- FX for a BFP soon!  I'm sure those expired tests were wrong!

Update: Just got my BFP on Monday and both betas have been good, so I guess I can be considered a graduate at this point!!  Yay!

QOTW: I haven't heard of a connection b/w DOR and celiac.  I know I don't have any gluten problems.  I've gone gluten free, and while I lost a few pounds at the time, nothing else changed.  Plus, about 10% of women have at least a low AMH for their age, and there is no way 10% of the female population has celiac disease.  Just my thoughts.

Good luck to everyone cycling!

TTC #1 7/10, Me (31)- Dx DOR (AMH 0.6); DH (30)- normal
BFP on Cycle #8. Natural M/C at ~8 weeks

Update: Met with RE #2 for the second opinion but wasn't blown away. I think we're going to stay with RE #1 and the changes he wants to make. He has me on 4 weeks of DHEA before our next cycle and with the way my cycle work, we should be ready to start stims the last week of Jan for a early Feb ER/ET.

QOTW: I haven't heard of it with DOR but I've seen a lot of stuff about how when people have unexplained IF, that celiacs should be looked into because that could be the issue.

Hello hello!

We did our iui today so now are officially in our 2ww period test on jan 2. Apparently I had one lovely 21mm follicle growing, and I am pretty sure I ovulated today, so hopefully it takes and we beat the odds!

QOTW: I don't have celiac, but I did have a wheat intolerance as a child, and may still a bit as an adult. I do have some autoimmune stuff going on though that we just found out about today that could be linked to my DOR... We have a follow up referral prob in jan for that.

Same sex couple - 31 years old - donor sperm, carrying our first due to dx of DOR/POF in Nov. 2012.

Low AMH, AFC - 6, Normal FSH, SS-A (RO) Antibodies (Autoimmune issues), tubes clear

IUI# 1 - December 19 - Done too early (24-36hrs before Ovulation) - BFN

IUI# 2 - January 16 - Femara + HCG trigger - BFN

IUI# 3 - March - 150-225iui Puregon, stimmed 16 days with only 1 follicle - nearly missed surge so no trigger - Progesterone - BFN.

IUI # 4 - "Pokey-Pokey" April 9 - 100mg Clomid CD 3-7, HCG Trigger + Progesterone - 2 follicles! IUI done after one O'd and before the 2nd one did. - BFN

...Moving on to trying to get my Partner pregnant with donor sperm. Hoping to come back and try with me, or do IVF with my DP's eggs eventually. My nerves are too frazzled for now

Hi everyone. I've been totally MIA for the last 4-5 weeks.  DH and I both started new jobs and I haven't had too minutes to myself.  I should be in bed now but I just can't sleep.  SO....DH and I went to the urologist for a follow up after being on Novarel for approximately 76 days.  His SA showed sperm!!! Not great but at least some, we were just hoping for something.  The motile count came back at 0.9 mil with 40% motility.  They didn't do morph because of the low count.

They urologist ordered a testosterone test, which we asked for 3 weeks after starting the hcg and the damn nurse refused.  I'm still VERY upset with the nursing staff and the urologist told me to contact his admin assistant directly to speak with him from now on.  So, his testosterone came back at 2.56 with a normal range being 2.50-9.50.  I'm pretty sure the plan is to increase his dosage and then to another repeat in 3 months or so to see where we stand.

I honestly haven't gotten a chance to really let it set in yet and make a decision, I think I'm just overwhelmed with so many other things right now.  I just wanted to give everyone an update.

***Liz4Paws*** Congratulations!!!

Hi girls
Well we are back from Hawaii and this two month break has been much needed. I had my hopes up that while in Hawaii and considering I was ovluating we would have a miracle .... Got my period today. Boo. I never seem to give up hope. Jan we will be meeting with our RE and discussing options. I think I need to push him a little because he seems to not want to try the antagonist protocol on us and I really want to do it next time around hopefully In feb. jan we will be monitoring my natural cycle and see if I happen to grow any follicles on my own. Then go from there. I'm so ready to get back into the swing of things . Also in jan I'm going to star weight watchers and try and lose 15 to 20 lbs. Christmas goodies have gotten the best of me or maybe it was all this pia coladas in Hawaii!!!
Congrats to all having success and good luck to all who are about to get going!
Qotd: very curious about the link but as far as I know I don't have celaics so the connection is not there for me

Hi everyone....  FX ceemonkey that the internet cheapies are the cause of the sticks registering BFN....

I will be starting the patch January 5 and stims when AF arrives in January... so if all goes well looking at an ER/ET late January.  This is my last cycle with OE so praying and have everything crossed this is it for us.

Hmm.. I hadn't heard about any connection between celiac disease and DOR.  But, it wouldn't surprise me.

Hope everyone has a Happy & Health holiday season and praying that 2013 is the year for all of us!

Cee- I am sooo rooting for you sweetie!

I'm on BCP for DE#2 and start lupron 1.2.13. Estimated Donor's ER is 1/24..

I do not have celiacs.  My DOR is a combo of being AMA and having the Ovarian cancer gene. Women with the BRCA1 gene "may" lose eggs earlier than general population. If I had tried to get pg at 30, I probably would have never known or had this experience. But I didn't get married til almost 37 and that was too late for me..

TTC #1 since 8/1/10; Me:39 and BRCA1+, DH:45
DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality
5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN
OE IVF#1-4 8/11-6/12= all BFN
DE IVF#5 11/12 bad embryos= BFFN
FINAL DE IVF #6 1/13: cancelled as second donor backed out during stims
Was added last minute as 3rd recipient to new donor on 1/18; ET1/23/13
2/1/13 BFP for the first time ever; Beta hell for several weeks: miscarriage 7 wks

ceemonkey:

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!
