We do every night for exactly the reason you cited. It is part of DD's bedtime routine. Once she was eating table food, it also helped us to fill the weird gap time between dinner and bed when DD was soooo tired and fussy. However, she doesn't have sensitive or dry skin at all and I know that's a consideration for a lot of people.
I think having the bath routine as part of bedtime really helped us when we dropped the bottle, because we left the other parts of the routine (bath, book, bed) in tact, so her biological cues that it's time to sleep were still very much in place. Good luck with whatever you decide!
ETA: Oh, and after reading replies, when we do skip bath time it doesn't seem to mess up bedtime. But she's never really fought us GOING to sleep. However staying asleep was a whole other ballgame....
