Sonadora:We did it. Mostly because Miss Independent had absolutely zero interest in anyone pushing food into her mouth on a spoon. So BLW it was. We had no problems with it at all and she's been self feeding since she started solids. It actually made our lives easier because we could always eat when she ate and not have to feed her then us, which frankly, we don't have time to do! My mother made a gallant effort to make her own purees (she kept B for us when I went back to work) but quickly discovered the same conclusion we had made, it wasn't worth the effort.
This! She mostly gets pieces of whatever I'm eating but she does get those pouches because she can feed herself. If I got those spoon things she wouldn't eat it. My mom won't give up and just tells me I'm doing it wrong when I spoon feed her, shows me how and of course DD takes just enough bites off the spoon that my mom is proven right.
There's no rule that says you can't do whatever you want- purees and chunks, spoons and BLW, etc. Just figure out what works and go with it. Don't stress about following something exactly by the book. There's no point!
