tommee tippee bottles, HATE similac.  breast is best (tommee tippee also makes an affordable double electric pump) but if that's not your thing, enfamil

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I FF from birth and DS did best with regular Similac and Dr. Brown's bottles.  We tried Enfamil and Born Free and Avent bottles but they all made him gassy.

I wouldn't stock up on bottles or formula though.  You never know what that LO will tolerate best.  I'd start with one kind of formula (might be easiest to try whatever LO will have in the hospital after he or she is born) and see how it goes.  It takes a week or so to see how they adjust to a formula switch.

As for bottles, get 2 or 3 of a couple of different kinds and see what the baby likes best.  Then stock up on them.

And don't worry about people throwing "Breast is Best" at you left and right.  Everyone has an opinion but it's no one's decision but yours.  I got plenty of crap from people for FFing.  None of those people bothered to ask why.  In my case, breast would have made my child extremely ill so no, it is not best.  Even if you don't have a medical reason to choose to FF, that's completely fine.  My DS has never had a drop of breast milk and he's completely healthy.  My best friend breast fed from birth and her kid is sick every other week and has been since she was a couple of months old.  It's not as simple as breast milk being the be all and end all for all babies.  Like everything else, it's not a simple straight line from point A to point B.

Congrats!  We've been using Dr. Brown's bottles with the slow flow nipple.  They seem to work best for us.  Some of the other bottles (Avent and Born Free) seem to flow faster even tho those were also slow flow nipples (size 1).  We have been using Similac formula.  I signed up on their website and they sent me free formula and a free bottle to try.  You might want to look into that.  And now that we are signed up, they send us $5 off coupon/checks.  Definitely worth it.  We never tried any other formula and our LO is doing great with Similac.

Congrats!
My LO did not like simlac so we are using enfamil gentle ease. Sign up at formula websites, they'll send samples. That way you aren't spending a bunch of money trying to find one LO likes

Seems like that person kind of slipped the "breast is best" comment in there all sneaky! You gave good advice though. It's your child, your decision. FF children will survive just fine!

Congrats!

I have FF both my kids and I would recommend using a store brand if possible.  With our first after failed BF we ended up with Good Start Gentleease and it was great.  This time we are using Sam's Club version of that and we get about double the amount for the same cost. My pedi also recommends using store brand if possible, it's the same stuff essentially and will save you a ton of money. I wouldn't stock up on much of any brand as you don't know what your LO will tolerate. As for bottles we have always used Playtex Drop Ins and been very happy.

Congrats!!! How amazing! Enjoy your pregnancy :) We EBF in the beginning and she still gets breastmilk but we do supplement w/ formula. We give the target brand of Similac Sensitive since LO has a super sensitive belly and also reflux. We also use the Playtex Ventaire bottles to help w/ gas.  They are amazing! Same idea as the drop ins but you don't have to continually buy the drop ins (we liked them a lot but got to be too expensive for us).  Good luck!

I mostly breastfeed, but do give my LO one bottle of formula before bed to make sure he's full and to get used to it for when I go back to work so then if the nanny does run out of BM he can have a bottle of formula. I use the Avent bottles and we use the Similac Alimentum ready made formula since he is allergic to dairy.

We tried a lot of different formulas for my son from enamil to regular similac and they both gave him a lot of gas issues, he also spit up alot like his entire bottles worth almost every feeding with both. Now he is on similac sensitive and it works fantastic no more gas problems, everyone I know with a baby has their child on some type of sensitive formula not sure why it ended up that way but that's what seems to work for most babies. Also on bottles I would just read about each brand and decide on one and hopefully your baby will like it, they are very expensive buy a few you can always buy more if  the baby likes it. We use Nuk and my son took to them right away my son had a tounge tie when he was born so the flat side helped him, also the bottle nipple is the same as most pacifiers so it was a very easy transition for him. Good luck and congratulations!

Congratulations on the LO. I'm also expecting my first. My own mother wasn't able to breast feed it just made us all have very upset tummies. We all turned out perfectly fine. I'm hoping to be able to do breast feeding for the first couple of weeks but if it doesn't work out, oh well. When school starts back I will not be able to, my schedule just won't allow for pumping and I might not physically be able to pump. I say stick to your guns, but don't stock up on any particular brand you never know what baby will be able to tolerate.
