Anyone delaying the birthday party?

I haven't been active on thebump/nest since giving birth to my kiddo...hopefully I'll plug back in here more often.

I have a late December baby (30th) and really want to have a birthday party with his little playmates...but, of course, most families are spoken for during the holiday and immediate post-holiday time period.  Many aren't even going to be in town.  I didn't have my act together to throw a party earlier in the month...so I was thinking of sending invites within the next couple of days for a January 6 or 8th party...does that sound too far past a birthday or too close to the holidays?

Has anyone postponed their baby's first birthday?

Jan 6 or 8 sound just fine to me. That's still only about a week difference.
We were thinking about celebrating his half birthday instead, but decided to celebrate on his birthday. Half of our family won't be there but we said whoever can make it great, whoever can't, oh well. We will probably make a bigger deal of it in the coming years.

E is going to a 1st bday party in mid-Jan for a little boy who was born on 12/20.  I think it is totally fine, almost expected (maybe appreciated) this time of year.  As they get older, I could see it getting harder to delay, but I don't think it is an issue at all.

We are delaying by 3 weeks and having the party in mid Jan. We just moved a few weeks ago, and when you add Christmas into the mix it was just impossible. I wanted to give her a fun party (and enjoy planning it) and in order to do that, I needed to take a step back and simplify. So, yeah, I don't think it's an issue at all.
