digital camcorder

Can anyone recommend a good 'midrange' digital camcorder?  I'm so overwhelmed by the number of options!  Something that records good quality video, especially indoors, and is easy to transfer to standard computer software.  Thanks!

We do have a Sony Handycam and you don't need software because you can just transfer to your computer via the camera and it comes with what you need to create a DVD. We used it for our wedding and will now use it to record events with our LO.
