Positivity Thread

So I was thinking yesterday (cd1, bah) about the silver lining of it not happening this month, and here's what I came up with:

-I can drink on Xmas
-I can drink at a potluck we are having at our house with friends the day after Xmas and not have to worry about them wondering what was up if I wasn't
-We are going to a bar for New Years and I can drink there
(haha, I'm not an alcoholic, I swear...it's just the season)
-If it had happened this month, EDD would have been August 29. Our anniversary is September 2, so it could have meant we didn't get to take anniversary trips without missing our kid's bday
-Another month to save money and work out harder

I know there are lots of reasons why it would have been great if it HAD happened this month, but this isn't the place for that. What are your silver lining reasons? No negativity!

I feel ya! My EDD would've been August 29 too.

DH and I are getting drunk on New Years and getting it on (that's around when I should O again)

I hate when people say/type "xmas"

Actually our pastor said in his seminary they all use "X" to abbreviate Christ, as it's the first letter in the name in Greek, "chi".
So it's not a secular attempt to "x" put Christ, if you will; but rather replacing the name with a shorthand, as seen here an initial.
Just an interesting fact I thought I'd pass along!
Sorry to ambush the thread!! It always bugged me a little too though, 'til I learned that!

I know the meaning but I still don't like it.  Because the majority of the population does not know the meaning.  So in reality it still really is like taking Christ out of Christmas until everyone is let in on this little known fact.

I remind myself whenever I start wishing I'd ovulate and my chart would make sense, that:

1. Not ovulating is nature's way of giving me more one on one time with DS before he has a sibling.

2. We don't really want to start TTC until spring anyway, so it is ok that my body isn't cooperating...for now.

Oh, and the Xmas thing...I love that so many bumpies know their Greek! Good job, ladies!

Bam :)

I'm secular & I know my Greek (thank you, college religion classes) but I still don't like to see "Xmas" written - it just seems lazy.

My super-long cycle & hesitation with jump-starting (and subsequent long talks with DH) made me realize that we may not be as ready to TTC as I thought we were. So I guess I'm thankful for that.

Well just count me in as one of the booze bags.  H and I are visiting with relative's for the holiday so drinking Yuengling (which we can't get here in MA) is one of my silver linings.

My friend is getting married on 8/24, so now her wedding will be a little further removed from my due date (though I hope not to be able to drink).

I have also been talking myself into how lovely maternity leave would be in the fall, should we be lucky enough to get pregnant this cycle.

I was going to share this tidbit, too. I learned this as a kid in church, but I am Unitarian Universalist, so I don't know if all churches teach this.

I will be early in the 2ww over Christmas and just outside of my 2ww for NYE so I can still drink. Whoo! So I guess it's a good thing I had a long cycle?

Upside, if I were KU then I may have been sick during my vacation late Jan. I read that for some morning sickness started w6. And drinking at parties of course.
downside, I was hoping for the whole announcing it over the Christmas thing.
on that note what is the rule on the scanning thing at airports these days. If you are preggers just opt for pat down?

oh yeah. I also have friends getting married on 6/11across the country, so I probably wouldn't have been able to go.

Like others are saying, obviously I would have given all those things up happily for a  bfp, but I didn't get one. So why not enjoy them?

I needed a post like this today, thanks. Yesterday, after AF being borderline late, she showed up. So it was CD1 for me too. :( I agree with all of your reasons - now I have more time to lose weight and drink that bottle of wine I was saving for Christmas (but drinking at home, not in public, as my face tends to react in an embarrassing way).

I'm actually glad it didn't happen last month because I don't want my inlaws to know until we are close to second tri. They have big mouths. It would have been hard to explain not drinking on Christmas Eve.

That being said I've got my fingers crossed that this is the cycle!

Meh, I would rather have been KU last cycle. I'm just not that interested in this one (would rather not have a September birthday), but maybe, hopefully, the month I don't care so much will be the month I get my BPF :)

I get bummed with BFNs, but I always try to tell myself that that's one more month of money we can save.

DH and I have been thinking of trying out a Unitarian Universalist church.  He was raised Catholic and I went to a non-denominational church when I was a teen.  We're not terribly religious at this point in out lives, but the UU principles seem like something we could get on board with.
