Higher blood pressure readings and trace protein :(

For the first time I had trace protein in my urine at 28 weeks. Now at my dr visit on Monday, my bp was 128/88. I've been instructed to monitor at home, so I bought a monitor. My readings for Mon, Tues & Wed nights have been:

124/83

133/94

128/88

All taken at the same time in the evening after being at rest on the couch for at least half an hour.  I have to call my readings in tomorrow. I hope this isn't leading to bed rest... :(

Your readings aren't too bad. Mine are running high 120s or mid 130s over mid to upper 80s. I have my 28 week check up tomorrrow. I'm monitoring 3-4 times a day, around the same time.

I hope everything turns out okay. I haven't heard about protein in my urine, but Ill find out next week. =(

I wouldn't stress over it (that will only make your readings higher). You won't know anything until you go in for more tests (if necessary) and there's not much you can do to change it. Just rest and try to relax. I just had a a high reading a week ago and trace protein. Ended up being sent to L&D over the weekend and nothing! Had appointments Monday and today and still nothing. Sometimes it's just a fluke. I wouldn't take your BP obsessively either, the nerves that come with the worry will raise it artificially. Good luck!

They aren't terrible. Depending on the time of day my BP is taken I have been running high 120's over 80's the last few weeks. I had pre-e with my first. My lowest would be 145/90-92... and I had protein in my urine & an insane amount of swelling. I will take my slightly high BP readings any day of the week! (To compare I have NSTs 2x a week first thing in the AM and my BP is always amazing at like 117/78)

Those aren't that bad of readings. 133/94 is a little high. My doctor gets concerned if either number is above 140/90. For me he bumped it up to 150/100 and I often get 155/103 and like readings. I have no trace of protein in my urine but am on bed rest due to the high blood pressure.

Keep monitoring it (it will help you realize when it starts to get high just from feeling different) and make a log. Bring the log when you see the doctor next. Trust me I know how much bed rest sucks but in the end it's best for baby.

I was actually just placed on bed rest last week due to high blood pressure readings and traces of protein in my urine. They put me on blood pressure meds and I have to monitor my bp at home as well. I've been reading in the low 130's over 90's and they aren't overly concerned until the top number hits 150 or I start getting blurred vision and headaches that don't go away with Tylenol.

Good luck! Bed rest isn't fun but it is the best option if that is what they decide.
