Talk to me about job profile assessments when applying

Seriously? What's the deal w/ them? They SUCK! lol
I was sitting over H's shoulder as he was doing one today for a job he's being recruited for. We've both "passed" them before (is it even a pass/fail thing??) but I swear every time one of us takes them, we don't remember them being so freaking confusing. I love how it states in the beginning "this is not meant to trick you" Bullshit!
What are your thoughts on how they should be answered? When they give you 5 choices from likely to unlikely w/ answers fairly likely, somewhat likely etc in between, I think they are really just looking for answers of either on side or the other, none of the inbetween "sorta" crap. I think it makes you look wishy washy to not be able to answer definitively one way or the other. Does that even make any freaking sense?
Anyway....HR peeps.....any insight?

I'm not in HR & may not be thinking of the same thing you're talking about but I don't think those are pass/fail they are more like Myers Briggs types assessments to see how you like to work & communicate & do things to see whether that is a good fit w/ the dept/organization. I think?

I hate them !  There are so many diffn't assessments out there right now too. The one you described (I forget the test name), I agree they want you to have a strong opinion and lead one way or another. Answer like you are confident.  Do you try to be the best or are you the best? You ARE the best.

I'm an hr director and find them incredibly annoyong when they are lengthy. it does help give a preview of personality types.

I prefer behavioral interviews instead. imo past performance may be an indicator of future performance.
