IUD conception

My husband and I were useing a copper IUD for birth control and just found out that I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and I still have a copper IUD in. The Dr confirmed with an ultrasound and blood tests that my baby is growing normaly but we still have about another week before removing the IUD and I am wondering if any one else has gone through this?? How is thier baby?

I see it quite often as a labour and delivery nurse. They can often removed the IUD with no adverse effect to the baby. My friend has a 1 year old little boy and had her IUD removed when she was 9 weeks pregnant with him.

My coworker got pregnant with triplets with an IUD! She ended up losing one of the babies, but has 20 year old twins now. Not sure if the loss was related to the IUD.

My SIL was born with the IUD in her head. She's totally healthy. Obviously that was a long time ago!

Thank you both so much for your responses. I just had my 2nd ultrasound today and the baby looks healthy and the tech said the IUD was lower like just about in my cervix and that's probably why I got pregnant, because the IUD wasn't in place. Either way I am happy because all babies are blessings and even though it wasn't planned I know God doesn't make mistakes.
