how long does your LO sleep at night? (6w)

My LO is almost 6 weeks and he is still up pretty much every 2-3 hours.  How long is this normal?  I had a friend whose 3w LO was sleeping 6 hour stretches! So jealous!! Sometimes he will go 3.5 hours and sometimes he is up EVERY hour.  I go back to work in less than 2 weeks and I dont know what I am going to do if I only get 3-5 hours of sleep a night.  This is stressing me out. What about you?

DD was STTN starting at 6 weeks...can't remember exactly, but probably 8 hours, if not more?

However, she was (1) really big and (2) formula fed, both of which helped.

I also realize that we were very lucky.

Not to discourage you, but ds is 12 weeks and still gets up 2 or 3 times a night.

We EBF and he is a big boy, I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever STTN, fortunately I don't mind and I don't have a full time job anymore.

My LO will be 6 weeks Monday. He only sleeps about 1.5 to 2 hours at a time... He has slept for 3 hours twice but that hasn't happened for a while...

All babies are different. It's normal for quite sometime. Dd1 was up every 3 hours until 11 months and didn't sleep through the night for a straight 8 or more hours until 15 months when I sleep trained. I was a zombie.

Ds sleeps about 5-7 hours at 5 weeks. He also is FF and weighs over 11 lbs. He eats every 2 hours during the day and takes 4 oz. Our nurse told us to feed him more during the day and he will eat less at night. Worked for us. We also quickly moved him to his crib in his own room rather than sleep in the pack n play beside us. If he heard us he woke up. Also if he stirs, we don't hear it and jump over to get him, so he goes back to sleep. If he cries we easily can hear him from our bedroom. We just don't hear every grunt, etc. It helps us get better sleep too. This is our 3rd Ds and by far, this is the earliest any of them slept through the night. My others were closer to 8-12 weeks.

Mine was up about every 3 hours until after the 6 week growth spurt.  It gets better.

Once I figured out how to swaddle DS without him breaking it in the middle of the night, he was STTN 9-6AM.  Before he would get up once around 1-2 and again at 6-7.  Though I think it's just because he had his hands free.  We've been blessed with a good sleeper.  He was on the bigger side, he's over 12 pounds now.

Same here, every 23 hours per night and LO is 7 weeks. For the past few days the first stretch is 34 hours and then every 2 from there on. DS1 was sleeping through the night at 2 weeks and then started walking up once after his 1 month dr. Check up.

DS turned 6 wks yesterday, and I think he had his 6w growth spurt a few days earlier.

Up until 2 nights ago, he was getting up every 3 to 3.5 hrs to nurse (I EBF).  However, the last 2 nights, he slept longer stretches at the start of the night, making it a 5-hr stretch between feedings.

When your son wakes up every hour, is he waking up hungry or just fussy?  I find that if I cluster feed him right before bed, he sleeps longer.  However, DS is hard to burp... if he doesn't burp, he doesn't sleep well and stirs a lot in his sleep.  Once he lets out a huge burp, he can sleep for hours.

Pretty much same here, dd usually sleeps about 3 hours at a time at night. As of last week, week she started to do 1 four hour stretch and once she did a 5 hour one. I was so excited but she only did it once.
