Hair Dye?

I've been a bottle redhead for almost half my life, since I was 15, and was wondering how or if any other hair dyers have changed their habits while TTC? Since red fades really quickly, I normally get mine dobe every 5 weeks, I try to schedule it for a few days after my period due date so that I'd know one way or the other. I've moved my base shade a little closer to my natural hair so that the roots don't show as much. I talked to my stylist and he said the only info he had was that I should avoid coloring in the first tri. Anyone else have more or better info?

Well, being a stylist myself I would say you could use a demi-permanent color or use a color with no ammonia, like Redken Chromatics, IDK what your stylist uses but I would deem that safe myself anyways. I used them with my DD and she's perfect & healthy.

I colored my hair all through my pregnantcy. He was born at 42 weeks and starting walking at 9 months and has an amazing vocabulary. :-)  I think its fine.

I highlighted mine all last year, but once winter hit she put in lowlights to go more natural.  Then we started TTC so I never got back into the highlights.  Saves me the money anyway!  I had asked my stylist about coloring, and she said she has pregnant clients that color their hair.  She just can't use certain ones.

I started having my hair dyed after we started TTC.  (Looks at pathetic siggy)

My hair person uses a Demi-permanent on me.  (Although she doesn't know we're TTC... I just live my life normally while we are TTC - The only thing I changed was taking Tylenol for pain instead of Advil)

I am very prematurely gray and I color every four weeks. I have no intention of stopping while TTC.

My stylist has started using an organic dye on me mostly to save my scalp, but when we get KU I will ask her if it is okay to use while pregnant.

Because of this, my hairstylist will be one of the first to know when we are KU Wink

Like some pp said, if you use no ammonia dyes it should be fine. And once you're out of first tri, there really shouldn't be any issue. Though the dye can react differently when you're pregnant because of the fluctuating hormones.

I'm naturally dirty blonde but I used to dye my hair red.

I would have to dye it every 3-4 weeks because my hair just doesn't take color and fades horribly.

I would use one of those semi-permanent color gels/foams and mix it with my conditioner and let it sit for 3-5 minutes every few days to keep the red in.

Maybe that would help with the faded look between coloring?

Like PP said, ammonia-free/natural dyes are probably the way to go once you are pregnant, I probably would be too worried about it while TTC.  From what I have read it mostly has to do with breathing in the fumes from the dye that is a concern.
