When to take OPK during the day

Hi

I am using First Response OPK 9 test kit.  Not digital.  I don't remember reading a specific time frame to take the test in the instructions.  But I read online most tests should be taken between 2-4 PM due to LH being produced later in the day (although it is present all the time)

I took my first one with FMU yesterday so today I didn't know if I should wait until the 2-4 PM time period?

To be really accurate, it is helpful to test 2x per day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon/evening to make sure you don't miss your surge. When I can, I test twice daily but sometimes I only test once and that is usually after work around 4-5pm.

I tested later in the day, simply because it fit into my schedule better. I usually get home from work around 4, so I would test then.  On Saturday I tested twice a day, but that was the end of my surge, so I don't know if that made any difference vs had it been at the beginning of my surge.

This is when wondfos come in handy because they are cheap, you can search on amazon.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure I have a short surge so I test 3x daily, and on the day I get a positive only one is positive. I test at ten am, two and six pm.

When I used them, I would use one at 5am, then again when I got home from work at 7pm..some people say they dont see a + with FMU, but I never had that problem.  You will just have to see what works for you.  

TTC #1 since July 2011.
BFP #1: 2/15/12-Ectopic/Mtx at 6 wks
BFP #2 10/12/12-m/c at 5 wks.
HSG all clear!! CD3 b/w normal. Urology appt all clear!
DH:MFI normal count (68mil) low motility (2%) and morph (9%)
Repeat SA: normal count (45.7mil), motility (47%) and low morph (1%), DNA frag: Excellent!
Me:MTHFR:Compound Heterozygous. On High Dose Folic Acid.
Cycle 17: Nov 2012: Clomid+ Trigger+ TI= BFN
Cycle 18: Dec 2012: Clomid+ Trigger+ TI+ progesterone= BFN
Cycle 19: Jan 2013: Clomid+ Trigger+ IUI #1+ TI+ progest =BFN
Cycle 20: Feb 2013: Clomid+ Trigger+ IUI #2+ TI+ progest =BFFN
Cycle 21: Mar 2013: Clomid+ Trigger+ IUI #3+ TI+ progest =BFN
Cycle 22: Apr 2013: Unmedicated TI+ progest =shocking BFN
Cycle 23: May 2013: Unmedicated TI+ progest=
IVF consult done. Waiting for CD 1 for testing, hysteroscopy, and BCP. Cycle in Aug or Sept. Anniversary

I test twice a day - around 9-10 AM and around 4-5 PM.  LH is synthesized during the day so they suggest you don't use FMU. 
TTC #1 Since 9/2011
Diagnosed with PCOS 4/2012-started Metformin
7/2012 - Clomid 50 mg. + TI = BFN
8/2012 - Clomid 100 mg. + Trigger + TI = No Response
9/2012 - Femara + Trigger + TI = BFN
10/2012 - On a treatment/charting break
12/2012 - Femara + TI = BFFN
2nd Opinion appointment scheduled 1/21/2013

Maybe test twice a day to seen when you get your surge.  I test around 11am - because that's what works easiest with my schedule, and I drink too much water in the afternoon to wait the 4 hours.

I seem to have a long surge...it usually lasts over 2 days. But, I do test at least 2x a day leading up to my FW. I usually first see my surge starting in the morning, but everyone is different. Definitely get the Wondfo cheapies so you can test multiple times without worrying about how many you are using!
