If you've transitioned to a toddler bed...

Can you give me any tips?

LO has been waking in the middle of the night and ending up in bed with us, and I know we need to do some sleep training but I just haven't been able to get myself ready to do it (I think I have PTSD from the other 5 times we have had to sleep train).

Anyway, I figured maybe now would be the time to just get her "big girl" room ready and transition to the new bedroom (it will be a twin mattress and box springs on the floor with a bed rail, our crib does not convert). Since we are going to have to do the transition anyway I figure I may as well lump everything into 1 ordeal.

Any tips? Stories of how it was so easy? (believe me, that will not be our luck!)

Sorry I know this was talked about a lot a few months ago, but we weren't close to ready yet, so I am betting there are even more people with advice now)

With us, since we were moving into the house we just bought we figured we'd go ahead and give him a big boy room instead f a nursery we would just have to convert. Our first night here, DH just converted it to a bed and that night I put him to bed like usual. He ran to the door and cried for 3 minutes then laid back in his bed and went to sleep. Now we do our bedtime routine and I tell him to go to bed and he gets chacha the frog from rainforest cafe and goes to his bed

Toddler proof her room and put a gate on her doorway. If she gets out of bed, she's safe. If she sleeps on the floor a few times, whatever - she'll figure out the bed is more comfortable!

We removed most stuff from the room, including the glider, floor fan, loud toys, etc.  Things with plugs, like the sound machine and clock, are on his high dresser, with the plugs running down the back.  When I put him in the room, sometimes he accepts it and goes to bed, and sometimes he screams and cries and paces around for ten minutes...but then always climbs into bed to sleep.

Since we only transitioned last week we have been letting him come into bed with us at 4:30.  We don't get him or anything...he just wakes up and gets out of bed and comes in our room.  We open his door when we go upstairs at 11 or so, so that if he wants to be with us he can.  I'm going to allow this to happen for awhile to see if it changes. Already he lasted until 6 today before coming in, so my guess is that he will realize he can stay in bed all night eventually! But I don't want to push him just yet.

we transitioned about a eeek and a half ago and it has been a breeze (luckily so far).  we have a hand me down toddler bed and just put her to bed prty exhausted the first few nights ..i just did not have it in me to keep getting up and putting her back in bed (if that was to happen)

we also took all toys out and she only has stuffed ad, dresser and k's crib(they share a room)

we also have a door knob cover so she cant get out. she hasnt got out of bed yet.  i just tell he if she wants me to yell or ask for me.  so far so good

good luckw

We started with naps in a bed but still crib at night.  Its a double bed mattress and boxspring on the floor with bed rails too.  Then we just tried night time sleep one day.  Hes never gotten out of bed.  When he wakes up he just cried or yells for us.  For naps we keep the door a crack open.  At night we keep his door shut.

It was a lot easier than I expected actually.  GL!

We had to do a sticker "chart" (a piece of paper with stickers) to keep him in it at first, but he loooves stickers, so he was very motivated to stay in bed if it meant he got a sticker in the morning. I actually gave him two everyday, one for the chart and one for his shirt. Then we counted them and talked about them before bed each night. It took about three weeks before we could get rid of the chart.  We skipped the toddler bed too and went straight for the twin size.
