Aww, thank you girls!  That means a lot.  I am happy I've been able to go to all of his oncologist appts.  I really like his oncologist.  Hope to find out when they will do a CT scan to assess the progress and see if the cancer is responding to the chemo.  He is in pretty good spirits but looks sick. And he can't think clearly for the life of him because of all the pain meds and that's super hard for him.  Just taking it one week at a time right now though.

Thanks again for thinking of us!

Kadie - how's your mom doing anyway?

Glad he is in good spirits. My mom always says having a positive attitude has helped her so much!

And thanks for asking about her. She is doing ok. She also has an appt today with her oncologist and her 2nd round of chemo. Depending on how things go today, I'm seriously thinking about sitting down with her and telling her that I really wish she would just have the mastectomy ( I think I spelled that right). I'm not sure why she hasn't thought more about it but then again I'm not in her shoes and don't know what she is going through.

Oh yeah - I mean, we're not in their shoes so it's hard to know what we would do, but I would think I would opt for a mastectomy as well.  My Dad went in for a whipple (surgery to remove the tumor from the pancreas) but they found that it was already metastatic when they got in there so they weren't able to remove any of it.  Chemo is the only option for my Dad.

Hope your mom's appt goes well!  How'd she handle her first round of chemo?

I'm sorry they weren't able to remove the tumor. I hope he responds well to the chemo.

My mom has only ever complained about being tired after words. So that is better than being really sick. She also hates the steroids she has to take the night before, they make her stay up all night and very emotional.

Yeah - my dad handles the chemo ok - he only got sick once after his 2nd round.  His biggest thing is being sooo forgetful and pretty out of it because of all the pain medications he's on. He's so loopy which is weird because he's always been sharp as a tack.

I pray for the best for both of our parents. ♥

My mom doesn't even take the pain pills.. she is too much of a light weight! If she realllllly needs one she will take a 1/4 of a pill and even that makes her loopy! She jokes that she can lick a pain pill and be loopy lol.

I talked to her after her appt yesterday and unfortunately the 1st round didn't work. It was just one of the drugs that she had before. As the dr. explained it, say you take an anitbiotic for something and it works, well the next time you take that anitbiotic it might not work even though it worked before.. if that makes sense?

So now they are doiing a different drug and she will go weekly for 3 weeks and then off a week and back on for 3 weeks. They are confident in this drug. (not sure the name my mom calls it "Jim Beam" because it sounds similar lol.) Also it wont make her lose her hair again which I think she is happy about because she just started growing it back.

Keeping your dad and your family in my prayers!
