It's a girl and I'm floored.

Hi ladies! We found out we are having a little girl and honestly I didn't think I would get to have girls because DH's family hasn't had a girl born in for MANY generations! Needless to say we are absolutely shocked! 

Our DS is Emery Jack-

Here are a few names that we have on our list:

*Madeline

*Scarlett

**Help me out! If you don't like these names please help me by suggesting something else :)

I am not a fan of Fiona, I don't see the appeal. I like Charlotte with the nn Charlie but not Charlie as a stand alone name. I love Madeline and Scarlett. Other suggestions: Violet, Adeline, Carly, Iris, Phoebe?

Please not Charlie.  PLEASE.  PRETTY PLEASE. Charlie is a boy's nickname and sounds so manly on a little girl.  It's a nickname besides. 

I like Scarlett and Madeline a lot!

I want to like Fiona.  I really want to like Fiona.  But, I can't.

I know how you feel.  Boys far outnumber girls in DH's family, so I was shocked our firstborn was a girl!

I like Fiona the best of your choices.  Scarlett is all right.  I like Madeline, but it's very popular, and I only like Charlie as a nickname for Charlotte or another feminine name.

I love Fiona and like Madeline, despite it's popularity.

Scarlett does nothing for me. "Scar" sounds harsh and it has less than savory connotations.

Charlotte nn Charlie is fine, but I'd advise against just Charlie.

I like Fiona and Scarlett best with Emery.  Madeline is ok.  Charlie I dislike.  I like Charlotte but with the nn Lottie.

I LOVE Fiona.

I also like Scarlett, but would hate it if someone ever called her "Scar" for short.

Madeline is nice and has grown on me over time.

My friend named her daughter Charlie, and while she's the most adorable and happiest baby I've ever know, I can't stand the name.

Congrats!  I would say no to Charlie since it is traditionally a boys name AND your son's name is more popularly a girl's name.

 The other names are quite girly, I really like Fiona.

My vote too. Your DS's name has gotten some unisex overlap, so a masculine name like Charlie would be especially odd in your family and potentially cause confusion.

Fiona -- Not my style, make me think of Shrek

Charlie --NO, Emery is more often used on girls than boys and if you named her Charlie or even used it as a nickname most the time I would think she was a boy with sister Emery.

Madeline - I like Madline, Not a fan of the nickname Maddy, close to Mattie that makes me think dog with hair mats, but that is just my wierd thinking

Scarlett - Like the most!

Congrats on team pink!

My grandparents were just as shocked to find out my mother was a girl, it had been many generations since a girl was born on my grandpa's side. Since they had no girl name picked they and given the circumstances they named her Eve. From your list I love Scarlett. Given the sibset I would not go with Charlie, I would assume Emery was your DD and Charlie your DS (and I prefer Emery on a boy)

I definitely vote for Fiona.  Really dislike Charlie, especially since some people are using Emery for girls, so it could be confusing what the genders of your sibset were.  I'm really over Madeline and have never liked Scarlett (though it's a fine name).

OP, first of all--your siggy pic is adorable.

I don't LOVE Fiona but for various reasons it's my favorite on your list.  I would definitely stay away from Charlie--I agree with PP who mentioned that since Emery is somewhat popular as a girl's name, Charlie on your daughter could cause some confusion.  I think an ultrafeminine name would work best with Emery.

Thank you for all the feedback ladies, and I would like to say that Charlie is now off of the list. It was my husband's pick anyways :)

 

Adeline has been on our list, but to me it sounds like "out of line" so I had to eliminate that.

I never thought I would have to come up with a girl name so now it's CRAZY!

I love the name Ellie, but I feel like it's too close to Emery?

I liked the name Ava for a long time, but is it too popular? Names are so important and I am afraid this is going to take awhile for us :)
