Should I worry?

DS had tubes put in early this morning. He has gotten past the major fussiness from the anesthesia, but every time I feed him something, he throws up. He projectile vomited his formula all over the wall, the floor, myself, and himself this morning and then threw up a few more times after that. I've resorted to just giving him sips of pedialyte or diluted apple juice since, though I did try to give him some yogurt and he threw up a little after that, too. I know nausea and vomiting can be a side effect of anesthesia. Just wondering if anyone else's LO had this experience after a surgery and at what point do I become concerned enough to call the doctor?

Did the doctor give you a list of things to expect, and things you should call them if they occur? If I was worried about a side effect, I would call.

DS1 was put under general anesthesia a few days after his first birthday. He never vomited. I would probably call the doctor.

When I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed, I was put under anethesia. I couldn't keep anything down for like 12 hours or so.  But, I was like 14...

Did they give you a sheet on what to expect?

Or just give them a call, it'll take just a few minutes. Better to be safe.

I'm a peds recovery nurse and we tell our patients if u vommit once or twice that's ok as long as keeping something down. it's expected after anesthesia but not all kids throw up. going back to pedialite is good. anesthesia will wear off. the pain meds could make him sick too. if he keeps throwing up and can't keep anything down call the ent on call.
