Swelling ?

With DS I had absolutely no swelling during pregnancy and postpartum.  I had DD 5 days ago and this pregnancy I had pretty bad swelling - including pregnancy induced carpal tunnel.  After giving birth I was super swollen and my hands and fingers have been really bothering me.  I can tell over the last 5 days that the swelling is definitely going down.  But I'm wondering, for those who had swelling, especially in your hands/fingers, how long did it take to go down?  Aside from time, drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding salt are there any recommendations to help the swelling go down?  Thanks ladies!

I had swelling in my hands and feet starting the day after I delivered. Aside from what you already mentioned, I read that elevating your feet about 6 inches above your heart can help with the swelling down there.

I had this issue also. It just took time. Within two weeks I was back to normal and lost all preggo weight by week three. You'll feel back to normal soon.

I swelled worse after the birth, than during the pregnancy.  It took about 2 weeks for the swelling to go down.  And trying to elevate my legs or feet didn't help at all.

I had severe swelling in my hands and ankles. It took about a full two weeks for the swelling to go down and finally looking normal and being able to wear my wedding bands. The first week after DD was born, I kept my feet elevated all the time and tried to stay off of them as much as I could.

I had swollen legs, feet, and hands.  I also had pre-eclamsia and a c-section. Nonetheless, the swelling went away at about 10 days.  However, my fingers are permanently bigger. I still can't fit my wedding rings.

I had no swelling whatsoever during my pregnancy. During labor, they pumped me full of IV fluid. About a day after coming home my legs and feet were so swollen that I couldn't wear shoes and had tingling/numbing in my legs and feet. I ended up in ugent care who sent me to the ER due to pitting edema. They prescribed me Lasix(sp?) and within 3-4 days I looked totally normal again.
