Anxiety

I was talking to a friend today who asked me about how the baby stuff was going and I just started going off about how I don't trust my RE anymore and feel really let down and fustrated with the whole situation. We decided when we met with him a year ago we would do the package plan he has. It includes 4 IVF s for a flat fee to the RE of 10,000 and u get as many FET a as needed to produce a live birth. Of course we are completely OOP and have to pay meds for each cycle and a surgery center fee for each cycle. So in a year ive only had one IVF which was April that made it to surgery and a whole lot of waiting in between. We did a mini stim IVF in oct which didn't even make it to surgery so it doesn't count as one of our 3 try's we have left. I feel like all of you ladies end up having like many try's with IVF In a year and I keep getting pushed off by my RE! I can't quit him now since I've paid him already I have to stick it out!!! Ugh so upset about this latley and I don't even have a solid plan with him in jan yet!!! How would you approach your next meeting with the dr if you are in my shoes and how would you voice your fustrations to him in a polite way????

What is the reasoning being given for not trying again after a failed ivf? Is there a hormone issue, a physical issue? Can't you just ask to be put on the February cycle and ask what you need to get it rolling?

Me: 35, DH: 36, ttc: 3+ years, dx: unknown
10/11: after 2 years, saw a RE, FSH 5.4
11/11: BFP! (surprise after thyroid med & normal hsg),
12/11: missed m/c after 7 week u/s,
1/12: D&C,
6/12 IUI #1: clomid, 5 mature follicles, excellent sperm,= BFN,
7/12: IUI #2: clomid, 3 mature follicles, excellent sperm= BFN,
8/12: IUi #3: clomid, 5 follicles, = BFP!, C/P
10/12 IVF #1: FSH 5.4, estradiol AFC: 14, long Lupron 150/bravelle75,5R/5M/4F, all 4 made it to 5dt, 1 blast and 1 8 cell transferred. No frosties. BFN
IVF #2: AFC 21, MD lupron 12/25, 225bravelle/150men, 4R/4M/3F, 5dt of 1 blast BFN
IVF #3: natural start antagon, starting 3/30, ER 4/11, 12R,11M,10F

I would definitely ask the reasoning for the delay, and be more assertive with him about starting cycles. I would ask him why you only had one real cycle this year, what his concerns are if any, why such a long gap between tries, and what his plans are. This is ridiculous to put you through this wait and not explain to you why.

Is he listed with the BBB? Have there been other similar complaints?
2nd ectopic resulted in loss of tube. HSG revealed remaining tube is "severely torqued".
IVF #1: ER 03/29/10; ET 04/01/10: transferred 2 embies; Beta #1 (9dp3dt)- 45; Beta #2 (11dp3dt)- 91= BFP
FET#1: ET 04/18/12: transferred 4 embies; Beta #1: >2 = BFN
IVF #2: ER 06/20/12; ET 6/25/12: transferred 2 embies; Beta #1 on 7/5/12= BFN
8/16: hysteroscopy for polyp removal
11/11: hysteroscopy #2 for yet another polyp removal
FET#2: ET 12/15/12: transferred 3 embies; Beta #1 (9dp5dt): 12/24/12: 426; Beta #2 (11dp5dt): 845= BFP
u/s 1/9= triplets!; miscarried all three on 1/10/13

I agree with pps ask him what the hold up is.  There must be a reason that they are delaying you.

IVF 12-21-2012 - 2 I think perfect no matter what the dr graded them (2B)embryos transferred Beta on 12-31-12 Positve - Beta is 21
Beta 2 1-2-13 - 31
Beta 3 1-4-13 - 53
Beta 4 1/9 - 212!
Ultrasound 1/10 - Nothing completely empty uterus Beta 1/14 - 743; Beta 1/17 - 1704 ultrasound shows nothing. Officially a miscarriage. 1/21 Beta 3900 Dr. says it ectopic. Ultrasound shows a miracle heartbeat right in the uterus where it belongs! Dr. says I can be cautiously optomistic!!! Hang in there baby!

I really have no good reason for the waiting time. We live in a smaller town and he is the only dr in the area other wise I would have to go 2 plus hours away to someone else. I am Dx DOR and he tells me in a tough case.! Ok well he had me take a two month break till after Christmas I think because he's busy and can't get me in the Christmas schedule due to his taking time off during the holidays!!! So we meet with him in January ... Not even for a IVF just monitoring! I think it's bullcrap and he's pushing me off and I've paid him a lot of money in full! Oh my fustrations are so high right now!

I am so sorry you have to deal with this crap on top of dealing with IVF. Sounds like your RE is being selfish and scheduling around his convenience, not yours. You paid him a lot of money up front and I would be pissed too. But it almost sounds like he knows he can get away with it because he doesn't really have competition to deal with.

Easier said than done but at least try to enjoy the holidays and not stress about this until your meeting with him. Also maybe discuss getting a partial refund if it seems like you are still getting nowhere after meeting in January? It might be worth it to make the 2 hour drive to the other RE if it means getting results. Being a "though" case is not an excuse for RE slacking!
