Being vaccinated is not a guarantee you won't get sick from serious illnesses. That's why it's important to have as many people as possible vaccinated.
However, if their little boy is not sick, and there isn't an outbreak of anything serious in your area at the moment, then I wouldn't be concerned about it. Like pp said, you're probably in touch with unvaccinated people all the time.
