Goddard school info?

Hello. I am a full time working mother of a 7 month old son. My husband also works full time. I work retail and he works food, so our hours are kinda crazy. My mother has been watching our son while we work. However, she wants us to find a daycare for our son for 2 days a week to help give her a break. We aren't under pressure that it has to be done right away, but sometime in the next few months. I have been trying to find a good daycare, and was wondering if anyone has used or is using the Goddard school?? I live in OH, but they are located all over the country.  Also what types of questions are important for me to ask? Thanks.

I live in Ohio and my daughter used to go to Goddard.I really enjoyed it and felt like it was a great place for her.  I would make sure to ask about their sick policy and ratios, as well as days they are closed ( holidays, etc). The Goddard we were at was closed from December 24th-January 2nd every year.

Lurker here. My son goes to a Goddard School here and my sister runs one in another state. We absolutely love it. Their curriculum is awesome and my son has learned so much there. The teachers are degreed and make their own lesson plans. My son is 18 months and does yoga, aet, and learns spanish words. The one downside is that they don't provide lunch, though we've enjoyed being able to pack healthy meals for him. I believe this is a Goddard wide thing but am not 100 sure.

I'm not sure how old your child is on mobile and can't see siggies but I'd be sure to ask about schedule, what they provide in terms of food/supplies, ask to see sample lesson plan, look over their facility, aka abiut discipline and make sure you meet the teacher and spend a little time in the classroom. I always look up the places online on the state licensing website to see how they've done on past inspections.

I just reread and saw you said 7 months old. At that age, I'd also ask about when they do bottles and naps, how they put them down for a nap crying, rocking, etc, what needs to be labeled, how they will work with transitioning to solid foods, how often they change diapers, and how they heat/store bottles. Also, if you do formula, will want to ask about if you need to send premade bottles or if they'll mix them. If you bf, ask if you can send frozen milk as backup.

We just started our 3 year old there and love it. He's already learned a lot. He gets more play time and they're very creative.
We also have to bring our own lunch. They give a morning and afternoon snack of a fruit or a veggie.
They teach through play and I think it's wonderful.

We absolutely love Goddard School. My DS has been going there for a little over a year and DD will start in May. I would ask if they can do part time. My Goddard School here will not do part time until they are 2 years old. Not sure if that is the same for other schools.

My 9 month old goes to Goddard and we love it.  The teachers are very nice and DS loves going there. The negatives I have run in to: 5 teachers and 12 kids so sometimes you feel like a broken record telling each teacher the same thing.  They don't seem to communicate as well as they should.  They try to overfeed DS... but I have managed to stop this.  They make all babies try to nap at 10 and 2 regardless of age... that annoys me. However, overall, we really like it.

We had DS in a church daycare before Goddard and it was awful!

DD went to a Goddard School from 10w-3 1/2, and we only left because we moved. The center was owned by a family, and they were wonderful.  Keep in mind that they're franchises, so you'll see some variation in each center.

Also, I'm not sure where you live, but ask about availability and waiting lists.  Where we live, there's a 6 mo+ waiting list for infant care, and you can only do part time care if another baby takes the other days during the week.  Flexibility in your schedule helps.

I personally love our Goddard School.  Of course the staff makes the difference anywhere you go, and all of my DS's teachers have been amazing.  The school is very clean and I like their schedule.  Their teaching methods are also different than mine, so we balance out.  I'm a flash card freak and they are more freedom learning.  My son has great manners that he has learned from there too.

My 20 month old DS has been going to Goddard since he was 12 weeks old.  He absolutely loves it there.  They report on everytthing he does all day long (well it's a premade lesson plan and they check a box if he participated or not).  He loves his teachers.  The only gripe I had was when they first started offering juice in his class during one snack time a day.  I didn't want him to have juice and they wanted me to get a doctor's note to state that he couldn't have it.  I decided not to follow through with it since it would only be offered once a day and he doesn't get juice at home.

They had tought DS the basic signs so he is able to communicate to us what he is trying to say.
