Little People?

I know there are a million sets of them, and it must be for a reason? But Hadley hasn't shown any interest in the one that she has (Santa train) but I'm wondering if she will "grow into them" more? My mom bought her tons of LP stuff for Christmas, farm, school bus, some farm wagon thing, and a couple more sets of them, probably 5 or 6 sets total. I can't imagine any baby needing that many LP...

Did your LO's love Little People? Or did they end up being just another overlooked toy? Thinking about taking a couple of the sets back.

My sister's kids loved them, had a gazillion sets, and played with them all the time. Then she gifted them to me (they were in beautiful shape) and my kids never looked twice at them. So I think it just depends.

My girls love them.  We have a couple sets in our toyroom and the nativity/santa that only come out at Christmas.  Dylan has the talking animals zoo too.

I was going to say this exact same thing.  My sisters kids (girls) loved them.

Parker didn't care about them when she was younger, like Hadley's age.  But around three and four her imaginative play took off and she definitely liked playing with them.  Technically, Hadley is too young to really play with them appropriately so I'm not surprised she isn't interested in them.

The barn might be nice, though, because I remember Parker stacking all the little people in the silo and then dumping them out (a completely appropriate 18 month old skill) so Hadley might play with the toys the way that she can.  I'd watch her closely to see how she manipulates them if she does take an interest.  It'll be fun to watch!

My DS is about to turn 2 and hasn't shown any interest in the ones he has. He does like pretend play and plays with other figures he has (weeble wobbles, some little martian men...) but just doesn't care for the Little People.

My niece never paid any attention to them.. she's 3 but my son likes them, he's 21 months.
It must just depend on the child.

This is pretty right in with us. We got the sets we have between 18 months and 3. She's hot and cold with them and the way she plays with them changes over time. The nativity is always a hit, but only being out for a month helps. I think 5 or 6 sets at one holiday is way you much. I might just put all but one or 2 away and bring more out later if rotate them.

We have a bunch of sets.  Truth be told, they are more for me because I love them!  DS#1 played with them moderately.  DS#2 barely plays with them (he barely plays with most toys).  I put most of the sets away.  We just have the nativity scene out right now.  DS#1 will see them in the closet or wherever though, ask me to get them out, then forgets 5 minutes later.  haha.  Anyway, yeah LP seem to be hit or miss.

M is MUCH more interested in the animals figures than the people right now.  I'm going to put away the ones that she doesn't play with and give them a try again in a few months - after she gets bored with her Christmas toys..

We have the house, car and plane. E loves them but we didn't get them until she was almost 2. I put the farm and wheelies car track on her Christmas list. I can't imagine having quite that many full sets though.

DD1 had some at that age, but wasn't really interested. DD2 LOVES them. She's 2 and getting more for Christmas. It just depends on the kid. Of course, now that DD2 plays with them, DD1 wants to play with them too.

Oh, my oldest loves Little People! We have Noah's Ark, school bus, and airplane. The babies are starting to get into them too so we got them the farm house for Christmas. I suspect my MIL got something Little People for them too. She was asking DD a few weeks ago to show her all of their Little People.

We bought my DD the farm and doll house for her 1st birthday. The farm has been a big hit with both my kids. The house she never cared about until a couple months ago. Now she loves it. She does imaginary play and all. It's really cute.

Both kids love the bus, so we have 2 now. I think 1 yr old are (mostly) too young to "get" LP, but most grow into it.

Both of my boys love them.  The older one plays with them all together and does a lot of pretend play.  He loves the animals and vehicles.  He is actually playing with them right now.  The younger one likes looking at the animals and they are safe for him to put in his mouth.  He pushes the cars around.  When he gets closer to 1 he will play with them now.  At first my oldest didn't get it and we had to play with them, make the animal noises and show him how to pretend play with them.

We have a lot because DD wanted to pretend play but I needed something that wasn't a choking hazard for DS.

We have house, farm, nativity, Noah arc, school bus, mom car, airplane, Santa train, raceway, fire truck and added people.

Some are favorites (like school bus and farm) while others are hardly played with (airplane and Noah arc) it's hit or miss but they are starting to outgrow it a bit

I think it depends on the kid too.  Ds had a few that he didn't play with at all till he was older and could roll play a bit (he always liked the bus though).  He did love the weeble tree-house though (weebles and little people seem to serve the same purpose when they are younger at least).  But dd has always played with them since she could sit up.  She loves the farm, and she's getting the house for Christmas.  But even for a kid who loves them, you probably don't need that many sets!

The zoo is really cool though, and makes lots of animal sounds, so if that's one of the ones you get I'd keep that one!  We don't have it but my kids have played with it at other peoples houses.

It totally depends. DD got a whole bunch when she was DS age, and never played with them.  DS adores them, and I can only see him playing with them more as time goes on.
