strange?

I just noticed a present to my DD under the tree that my ILs brought down. They wrote it from my sisterinlaw. She passed away 3 years ago. Strange?

A bit strange unless maybe it was something of hers they want LO to have, or something she'd been saving for your kids.

Definitely unusual, but I think it's kind of a neat idea.  I would imagine they want your DD to know about her aunt, even if she'll never meet her.

It's a little odd.  My mom insisted on buying me a wedding gift from her mom who had died 4-5 years prior.  She said she felt like it was something her mom who have wanted her to do.  I think mom was really missing grandma at that time and the gift was a way of dealing with that grief.

this. I think this is an especially hard time of year for anyone who has recently lost someone close. I might side eye a little, but I'd never judge. I'm sure they are just sad that SIL never got to be a part of dd's life.

It may be a little odd with DD being so young. I will probably give DD gifts in the future passed down from my Mom, but I will include they're from me. I will explain to her where they came from in order for her to understand the grandma she never got to meet.

If it bothers your H, then he needs to talk with them about it.  They need to come to some kind of understanding so that your ILs and your H feel comfortable with how your DD will "know" her aunt.

I agree. But that would require him to actually tell them how he feels about something, which he never does. Drives me crazy.
