Flu and BF

I think I have the flu, but haven't been to the doctor.  Tami-flu is not safe for breastfeeding, right? I don't want to pump and dump so I am thinking just not go to the doctor.  Has anyone dealt with this yet this year? What did you do? Still nurse or stay away from LO? He has had the flu shot.

Keep nursing just wash your hands a lot and try not to kiss lo. Your milk contains all the antibodies to protect your lo. I've never been to a dr for the flu in my life so no idea about that sorry.

My doc said Tamiflu has to be administered in the 1st 48 hours of symptoms to work. Most people don't get to the doctor in time. I would skip the Tamilflu and continue to nurse so your LO can get those antibodies as the other poster had said.

Try the website lactMed. It tells you all about meds and nursing. But definitely call your doc, pediatrician or pharmacist. Or all 3 like I did when I had to take meds. Feel better!

its way too late now but next time take the med that wil shorten your illness. if you really had the flu, knocked down in bed high fever etc it would be a welcome help. youd prob only have to pup and dump 12-24 hr.

heck I had surgery and pumped and dumped only 24 hours fpr anesthesia and D said even that wasn't necessary
