All I can speak to are Braxton-Hicks, because I haven't felt real labor yet, but I've had BH since about week 17 that I can feel and by now I have a few every hour. They feel like a tightening, and that's kind of it. Once in a while they'll also feel a bit like a menstrual cramp. They make me have to pee if I have anything in my bladder, and it can make it a bit harder to breathe since my bladder/lungs/diaphragm are against a rock hard obstacle instead of my soft uterus. If I touch my belly, it's rock hard all over, as opposed to just one spot like when LO is pushing. Usually it makes my belly look all lopsided at the time, as well. I suppose it's a bit like feeling like your abs are flexed, but you're not the one doing it...? This all probably doesn't help but it's the best I can give ya :p
