Flips and Bambino Mio for prefolds? Other NB cover choices?

So FTM and I've been doing my best to research. I have an HE washer and I know that washing these things will not fit into my lifestyle. Laundry is my least favorite thing in the world and we have a really well reviewed diaper service in my neighborhood. So prefolds, it is!

That being said, I am trying to pick the best covers to start with for my little guy. Friends strongly encouraged me to get

Bummies super bright and Thirsties Duo Wraps in the smallest size

Looking into it more, it seems like I could also use the  Flips and Bambino Mio brands with these prefolds. Does anybody know if these work well together? Should I buy one of all four to try out with my baby?

Sigh...I've read all the intro "New to Cloth" websites and I feel like I still have questions. Thanks ladies!

That's pretty much it. Buy one and try it. Personally, I hate flips. Others love them. I know someone who uses the bambino mio system exclusively, but I never hear anything about them.
Thirsties duo wraps and bummis super brites seem to always be well liked in the small sizes.

Any of the covers you mentioned (or pretty much any diaper cover out there) will work with prefolds.

Bummis super brite are great - I would get both the nb and small b/c if you go with these the nb is *super* tiny. Those 2 sizes together will have the same fit range as the Thirsties Duo size 1. FWIW the super brite is my favorite cover - I'm currently using them in size medium.

Thirsties Duo size 1 is also a good cover. I didn't have the size 1 when DD was smaller and wish I had (I like the size 2 now).

Flips will likely be too large for a newborn. They are not my favorite covers since I prefer to snappi/fasten my prefolds and they are really more designed for tri-folding.

Bambino Mio will also be fine; I just think they are expensive for what they are - a made in China cover with a very small weight range. So you'll have to size up on covers more frequently than with the Thirsties, Bummis or Flips.

ETA: my favorite cover for the NB period was Proraps classic in newborn. They aren't the prettiest ones out there, but they have a very defined umbilical scoop and nothing ever got through them. Plus the price can't be beat.

Didn't try the flips but loved our bumpkins and thirsties.  I hate our Mios and never used them.  They were awkward fitting for DD and once I saw the other two I felt no need to stress over them. I have two bummis and am not a huge fan.

Personally, I would only use double gusset covers if I was going to exclusively use PFs.  I am always in favor of buying one and trying several brands.  Fit can vary a lot between babies.

I love, love, love the bummis super brite cover.  I also like the sized thirties covers, but not the duo (which can have issues with the rise snaps).  Similar to the Duo (but way better) is the BB mini coverall or SB capri.

Finally, I dislike the Flip cover and the Flip system in general.  They are okay, but there is much better out there for a similar price.

We had one Bambino Mio cover for newborn and it wicked/leaked all the time! Never had a problem with our Thirsties covers - those double gussets are awesome for newborn poop.

Havent used any of the others, but from what I hear Flips wont fit a newborn.
