Heard "So when are you finally going to turn the seat?" yesterday.

Car seat related.

Got a side eye from a friend and an exasperated "When are you finally going to turn him around?" yesterday.  LOL!  He's been forward facing before and I don't know what kind of carnival ride everyone else's car turns into when FF, but ours is not.  He still yells "goooooooooo!" at red lights regardless of which way he's facing. 

The child won't be totally happy in the car until he's driving it.  Because he recently figured out how to put the key in the ignition and turn the car on.  I will not the least bit surprised if I find him dismantling the engine when he's 6.

(For the above, we were sitting in the car in the driveway after an errand trip and he was playing in the front seats.  Doors were locked, parking break on, and I was inches from him.)

I think I may keep him RF to 3 just to annoy people.  Devil

ETA:  I wonder if this friend thinks I've just come up with not turning him on my own.........that might explain the tone of her voice.

We started getting that last summer! The grandparents, and DH also was really pushing me come September. We turned him around the week after his 2nd birthday, because he weighed in at 30.8# and our car seat says 30 pounds. 

My back is thanking me- and it is fun to see him but man, I have a back seat driver. "Nicky drive! Go that way. THAT WAY THAT WAY (scream), 2 hands, 2 hands (if I just have 1 on the steering wheel).

LOL.  My only contribution to this thread is that I am dying laughing at Finn figuring out how to start the car.  Totally doesn't surprise me.  Future engineer maybe?

Also, Punky's two year old backseat driver is cracking me up as well.

I had some friends that were like that with Kate.  She rear faced until 2 (though, I did turn her right at her birthday). 

Don't worry about it.  Commentary on parenting choices is never ending.  You just happen to be at the "extreme" end of this spectrum by going past the 2 year mark. 

Tell her you want to protect him from your liberal use of the finger in traffic ;).

The funny part is that I'm not a rabid ERF person. I'll think to myself that maybe I'll turn the seat soon and then I forget about it for awhile.

Not too many people bother me with it. I think they all know I always do things differently than everyone else, so they are used to it.

I'm thinking we will have to turn her when  this LO arrives. I'm not sure how the seats will fit otherwise. We'll have to try it out. She's FF in DH's car because she is too tall for the seat in his car to RF. She doesn't seem to care about going back and forth.

Okay, this was hilarious thank you. :) Well, Finn starting the car and Punky with her backseat driver- awesome. 

My MIL was actually the only one to say something, and that in a really quiet way- also her first questioning of my parenting, I think - "So, she's getting kind of long, huh?" was how she put it.

Meh. As she isn't getting car sick and still only weighs 25-26 lbs, I can wait. :)

This thread cracks me up!  As does the idea of ERF until 3 just to annoy people. 

T tries to put the keys in but hasn't succeeded yet.  He can turn the ignition, but we've only done that once because I'm super paranoid of him knocking it in gear even with him on one of our laps (I did something like this as a child).  He is obsessed with just "driving" moving the wheel two inches while the car is parked and off.  

I can totally picture Finn figuring out the engine at 6.  Lol, in fact, I kind of picture him like Phineas from Phineas and Ferb, not that I watch that a lot or anything....really....
