krptcmschfmkr128:It was actually brought up in a conversation on here recently that scooping cat boxes while pregnant is safe and OK, under most circumstances. But that doesn't mean you have to tell your husband that.

Ruger04:As
a Vet tech for 6 years, If you worked with animals you should know...
that a cat only sheds the eggs for 10 days its inter life! You are more
likely to get toxo from gardening out side or eating raw or under cooked
meat, then you are from a cat! You can only get it from the feces and
by digesting them orally. So if you use good hygiene you will never have
a problem! Also cats only get toxo if they are avid hunters, they have
to kill and digest an animal that has been infected. Most people in the
united states have come in contact with toxo and your immune system
kicks in and fights it before you will every have a problem with it! Not
to mention you have to be infected when you are pregnant to cause a
problem not before!
I'm sorry if this comes off snarky, actually
I'm not sorry. I hate when people try to scare other people with stuff
like this! I don't want a whole bunch of women running out and getting
rid of there cats because they are ttc. That's ridiculous!
Our cat is not a hunter yet he got toxo. A couple years ago we were in a neighborhood where there were hunting cats. He became best buds with one of them and one would actually sneak into our house and use his bed and litter-box. We are pretty sure he got toxo from him. Toxo in cats may go unnoticed but strangely enough the vet said that when our baby was diagnosed there had actually been a large influx (there were like 5 that month).
When it comes to his litter box, I always wear gloves and still wash my hands after. So as long as you're careful and are hygienic, you'll be just fine :)
