Feeding/Over Worried 1st Time Mom

This may seem like a silly question to some but I am just curious how much does your lo eat? I am just worried because I feel like I fight to get my little guy to eat and this is most likely why he doesnt STTN anymore (besides his 4 month wakeful)

My little guy is around 15lbs and he's so funny with his feedings. Sometimes he eats 2.5 and sometimes 5.5. I usually feed every 3.5 hrs.

Do some of your Lo's have funny eating patterns?

Example - (today so far)

5am - 2oz

9:30am - 3.5oz

Then the next bottle will probley be 4oz? It seems as though everyone's lo's are pretty consistant with 4-6oz every feeding?

How long do you go between feedings and how much does your baby eat?

He eats about 3.5 to 4 hrs and anywhere between 4 to 6 oz. he doesn't have anything consistent either. I'm not worried though. If he's steadily gaining weight then don't stress. They won't starve themselves

My pedi wants my LO to gain weight do we are TRYING to feed 6 ounces every 4 hours but it doesn't always work. He just woke up from sleeping 9pm until 7 am and ate 5 ounces. Next meal he may only eat 2. It just depends.

My LO is 14.0lbs and 28". The pedi said she wouldn't worry about his weight if he wasnt so over height. 15.0lbs is average. It's a good weight! I wouldn't be worried!

for us it depends on the day.  I have a spreadsheet going to track how much she eats.  when her gums aren't hurting she eats 26 ounces a day, on a pain day she eats about 20.

first feeding at 6am she eats between 5 and 6 ounces, then its 2-4 the rest of the day.  if its only 2 hours between she'll eat 2oz, if its longer she'll eat more.

we're just under 14 pounds right now (born at 7 14)

My DD was all over the board like yours until recently... sound pretty normal to me. I wouldn't worry.

My LO is pretty inconsistent also. During the day she eats somewhere between 2-4 oz every 2-3.5 hours. At night she'll go a 6 hour stretch or so and have 4oz at that feeding.

DD is very inconsistent. Our pediatrician said that as long as her growth was good, don't worry about it. She'll eat when she's hungry. She usually STTN even when she doesn't eat as much.

I can't tell you how much she eats because she is breastfed but I can tell you that even though she doesn't nurse as long/as often during the day (she usually eats every 2 hours but sometimes goes 3 hours if i'm lucky), she still STTN so I'm not sure that the amount they eat directly correlates to if they STTN or not.  She usually eats for a good 30 minutes before bedtime and last night she only ate for 5-10 minutes but she still STTN.

He eats between 3-4oz every 2-3 hours. Every day is different. Sometimes he's 2 hours on the spot, sometimes he lollygags and it'll be 3.5 hours. Sometimes, he'll eat 4oz and still be hungry, sometimes he's alright with 4oz.

I wouldn't be worried if I was you. He'll eat when he's hungry. Follow his cues, feed him when he's hungry, and stop feeding him when he shows you that he's done eating. PP is right, he won't starve himself. As long as he is having wet diapers, he'll be alright. Ease up and just let him do his thing, you'll probably have a much happier baby...and he might STTN then! :)

I wouldn't worry about it. He'll eat when he's hungry. I mean, look at those rubber bands around his arms. They tell you he's not starving. AND THOSE CHEEKS!!! :) Just feed him whenever he's hungry. No problems...

He eats every 3 hours pretty much on the dot. 46 oz a feeding usually falling on about 5 oz. he is pretty consistent that way but I wouldn't worry if your lo isn't losing weight.
