spit up question

E hasn't been a spitty baby. She would on rare occasion spit up or throw up. But I think she's sick because for the past day and half she has thrown up after very bottle. And I don't think it's from over feeding since she has been eating a little less too. I put a call into the pedi this morning but she hasn't been able to get back to me yet. If she is sick with a stomach bug, what do you do for a 3+ month old?

What makes you think that she is sick? Fever, stuffed up nose, etc? If baby has a cold there isn't much you can do. There isn't much you can do for an adult with a cold except rest, humidifier, fluids and monitor for fever. When Jack had a cold he was spitting up more (not throwing up, I feel like there is a difference. Throwing up is forceful, spit up happens with burps or hiccups and is a pretty mellow occasion) but this was because the post-nasal drip was filling his tummy so he couldn't eat his normal amount of milk.

Hannah just got over a stomach bug that sounds like this. We stopped formula after 48 hours of throwing up and did pedis lute for 2 days. Hope it goes away soon!

FTM, put pedialyte seems extreme..? I personally would do this only under pediatrician guidance. OP, make sure your baby has an appropriate number if wet diapers. If she does, then she should be getting enough milk in her.

Call your pedi- some pediatricians will recommend pedialyte, some won't. Your Dr should have someone on call that can call you back with the appropriate recommendation. It could also be that your LO is teething and the saliva is being swallowed making the baby spit up and not as hungry. Good luck and happy holidays!

She's had a cold for about a week so we've been taking her into the bathroom with us in the morning to sit in her bouncer in the steam, using the snot sucker and saline on occassion. She had a a slight fever a few days ago but I figured it was teething it , she has a tooth that's slowly breaking through. It's definitely the forceful throwing up about 20 minutes after she eats. She has been eating less ( 4oz per bottle instead of the usual 6-7oz). I'm not super worried at this point, just cautious.

My opinion is that you are doing all of the right things. Myself and a few friends that I talk to all do the same things. :] I would call your ped if baby is only eating 1/3 of the normal amount or doesn't have enough wet diapers. GL! Hope she feels better soon.

Meh.  When she wouldn't stop puking and had blowouts, I did what I knew our dr would tell us to do.  I wouldn't call pedialyte extreme.

If your ped would do it, not extreme. For OP, sounds extreme. Her situation as described doesn't seem like pedialyte is warranted.
