A progesterone question

I started progesterone this cycle at 3 DPO. Today is 12 DPO when I would normally start AF. Took a HPT this am and it was definitely negative. Just had some spotting when I went to the bathroom. Obviously if true AF comes I won't take the progesterone tonight, but if its still spotting would you do the progesterone tonight? I hate to just delay the inevitable. I'd rather just move on to the next cycle. My dr's office is closed today and tomorrow.

Also, if AF is starting even on the progesterone does that mean my dose isn't high enough? Or is that normal? I'm glad I don't have to wait a couple more days to move on, but just wondering if its even doing anything if my LP is exactly the same.

They didn't give you instructions? Nice. You should have been told exactly how many days to take it, when to test, and if negative, when to stop taking it.

Generally they do 14 days, then you stop and your period should within a couple days. Spotting =/= new cycle. You don't know that your LP didn't change, and I am guessing that your levels were not checked with meds, so they don't know if it helped you or not.

I had intended to call Wednesday at 14 DPO and ask, but with the spotting this am it threw me for a loop. I've never had spotting that didn't result in AF.

They are doing the progesterone as a result of two miscarriages. Both the OB and RE said its more of a can't hurt, might help deal. Neither one wanted to check my levels :/

So they are giving you meds for an issue that they have never tested to see if you even have that issue? And no proper instructions for their use?

When you call Wednesday, it's time for a CTJ talk about their irresponsibility on this.

I am actually planning to call a new RE on Wednesday too. I hated the one I met with after my second loss and got a glowing recommendation for another one in town. I was diagnosed with a genetic mutation which my OB does not think needs blood thinners, but from what I've read my form does. I love love love my OB, but am concerned about her nonchalant attitude about this condition.

I'm glad you are planning on getting another opinion on that. Sucks that you need to, but at least you have other options.

I can think of a number of Bumpies that have had loss issues that were resolved by blood thinners, so definitely worth checking into further.

Thanks. I am going to call a hematologist too. Apparently there is some controversy about my specific condition I have the homozygous MTHFR mutation and how it causes m/c. But it seems like everything I've read that if you have the specific form I have you should be on blood thinners. I have had a completely uneventful, healthy pregnancy so obviously it's possible with this, but clearly something isn't working now.
