Just in case your baby decides to make an appearance tomorrow....

36 years ago today my mom was getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner.  She was due in early January and had no idea that I was ready to make my debut on Christmas morning.  She blames the home made egg nog that my grandmother served her.  My grandmother who was also born on Christmas day!  Dr. Angel (that's no lie) never gave her an ultrasound and predicted that I was a girl based on my heartbeat.

As a Christmas baby I will say that I often felt "robbed" as a kid.   Although my father tells a different story. (Mounds and mounds of presents) Just remember, always make sure your kid gets a birthday cake that they want and don't wrap their birthday presents in Christmas paper.  They may not love it as a kid but now that I'm going on 36...I mean 32...ahem...29 I don't mind if my birthday passes by unnoticed.  With a good moisturizer I will be able to easily fudge my age. : )

Thanks! This has been my "fear" since the begining. I have wanted to make it through Christmas so my child does not feel robbed, also I want to be home on Christmas for my other two DDs. So we will see..... BUT thanks for the advice! It is good advice for a child who has a birthday anytime near Christmas (which I will be inducedd 12/30 if baby is not here by then) Thanks! Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday! I also shared my Birthday with my Grandma, I always thought that was so cool!

Great story and I think you are totally right that having babies this time of year is hard because you want to make sure baby has Christmas and a birthday. SIL was born the day after Christmas and IL's always made sure that gifts were wrapped in birthday paper and it was her day just like they did for the other kids. It might have been hard to do sometimes but they did it.

If baby girl comes today, I highly doubt it, but if she did I would hope I would make an effort each and every year to make her day extra special.

My son's birthday is on Friday. I have always tried to make sure that he has two separate celebrations and separate Christmas and birthday presents. We also usually have his birthday party a couple of weeks early so that his friends can come. Some people have also suggested to me that we do a half birthday party in the summer so that's an idea as well. I am sure that a birthday three days after Christmas is a little different than on the day, but some people do still try to lump them together.

I'm having LO tomorrow! Today is my best friend's birthday though, and he warned me of the same thing. I vow to do my best to seperate birthday and Christmas! haha

We'll definitely make her birthday something separate from Christmas/New Years but I was a June baby and we skipped my birthday a lot because no one was ever around during the summer. When I was young my birthdays were only my sister, 2 cousins & I. When I was in middle/high school I almost never spent my birthday with more than a handful of friends so I don't worry too much!

My birthday is two months before Christmas and people were still guilty of "lumping" gifts together! 

I don't want this little guy arriving tomorrow bc I want to spend the day with DS1. (And of course it's way too early!)

My brother in law's birthday is Christmas and he hates it too. We decided if that happens we will celebrate it on her half birthday, until she is old enough to decide.

If my little boy makes his appearance tomorrow, his father will show him the ropes. My husbands birthday is Christmas, December 25th. Or as my adorable niece says...Christmas is Jesus and Uncle Mike's Birthday.

Oh you just made my day! 

I have been having contractions for over a week now. This morning I woke up to a new sensation... contractions that are closer together and stronger. I hoped that sitting, eating, drinking water, and resting would do something. So far, still having contractions. My family is MAJORLY bummed as if I have this baby my mom will be in the hospital with me so that cuts into their festivities pretty strongly. I am feeling terribly about it! I still have hopes that she will hang in there until after the new year (she is "due" on the 2nd), but if she makes her appearance I will feel much better about it after reading this. Thank you for that. Excellent Christmas gift.

For sure....though I've accepted that my LOs could come any time (esp. after a fun L&D run the other night....) I keep praying that they won't be born on Christmas. It seems that it'll be bad enough that they have to share a bday with each other, let alone on a day when everyone gets presents! :-P Of course, if they do come tomorrow, we will always make sure that their bday is separate and special.:)

I was thinking i would celebrate LO bday the last week of november or first week of jan to keep christmas and bday seperate and as she got older have her choose her bday party day and explain why etc etc.

This is a great story! :) My birthday is December 30, so I completely understand the "getting lumped together" thing as well. My parents were awesome enough to give me a little birthday party during the summer on my half birthday, so all my friends could come over then. :) But it was hard not to get the "half Christmas, half birthday" presents!
