Ideas for play mat?

I have hard wood floors so I was wondering what I can use for a play mat? I thought of those foam tiles. Anyone else have any ideas for what I can use? I don't want to put down an area rug, cause then my dogs will "own" it. If I can lay something down and pick it back up when she is done playing.

For my first I also had only hardwood. I used the foam puzzle piece mats to put under the baby play gym.

I have hardwood and throw an old comforter down on the floor folded in half with the playmat on top. Easy to clean too.

I use the comforter that came with the crib bedding set.
