I have been struggling with low supply for awhile now and have been supplementing for some time. I have been taking fenugreek for a couple of months now and if I go off of it for a day my supply drops by half.
My LC told me to take domperidone, but reading the side effects it is concerning me. Anyone have any success with this pill? Anyone have any side effects? How did it affect your LO?
Ok, just got mine today and I am not a regular on this board BUT...
i asked my LC and we looked it up in her breastfeeding medication "bible". It said it was the "ideal" drug, not having any real side effects for mom or baby.
So i did order it.
Any side effects generally come from IV use of the drug to treat other illnesses. I took it for about 15 months while I bf my first and it was a miracle drug for me! I took the full dose for a few months and then lowered it for the rest of my breastfeeding adventure. :) I went from supplementing and pumping with every feed to not needing to supplement at all and pumping enough when I went back to work to feed him bottles at daycare. It took about 3 weeks on the drug for the full effects. Good luck!
Good domperidone info - I actually contacted this doctor with questions and they answered very quickly and were friendly. He's considered one of the leading experts on bfing.
