feeling cheap!

this year I only put together gifts for familiy... we have a tighter budget with the baby. I feel so cheap... we have had a few friends and neighbors give us gifts and we did not have anything prepared for them. they are not people that we even expected gfts from.  anyone else keep it simple this year, I dont want to feel like the only one this happened to : /

Next year I will have to prepare some little gift bags for friends, Im thinking some hot cocoa, a mini bottle of baileys and some cookies

We got caught off guard by a neighbor I have never even met.  She is older, a grandmom age woman, and she brought the kids something little ....for her new neighbors.  I thought it was really sweet, I figure I will bring her a jar of homemade sauce to thank her after the holidays.

We only got presents for the kids in the family this year and nothing for the baby. But I usually don't spend much on people outside of the fam. I usually get some dollar store tins and make this popcorn: http://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/73761/recipemicrowavecaramelpopcorn

The same happens to us sometimes. I usually only buy gifts for family and for my BFF, but I like to have tins with treats or something on hand just in case. It's not too original but people expect sweets so I figure it's not a big deal. I usually buy Christmas tins the week after Christmas when they are on sale for next year.

I  hear ya.  Sometimes I feel like a grinch, I hate buying gifts for anyone but family.  Why doesn't the whole world just agree to focus on our families and stop buying each other treats, cookies, crap, etc.

I did most of my shopping for the kids in our family on Black Friday and did pretty well for them. The baby didn't need much, just a few carseat toys and teethers. Our fams filled our living room with toys for the next 2 years. The "grown ups" in our families received minimal gifts and I told SIL that adults on that side being phased outshe hold out for Christmas gifts and money to get cash for drugs and rent since I have 4 nieces and nephews and my own baby to shop for and it's really all about the kids. She wasn't happy with her 40 Walmart gc. My side draws names and we stick to a 75 price for that one person. Thank heavens for small favors.
